The verdict is one of the longest running and contentious cases of independent India.

Fom 1950 onwards a total of five title suits were filed in the Allahabad High Court.

Four in favour of Hindus and One from the Sunni Waqf Board - all staking claim to the title of the plot of land of the Babri Mosque.
This might end here in this court but another is likely to start in the Supreme Court!
High alert as India gears up for Ayodhya verdict..

One lakh ninety thousand troops on the streets of UP are gearing up for a contentious verdict that has been 60 years in the coming.

The Karnataka government has banned demonstrations. Schools and colleges will remain closed for two days from Thursday. Leaves have been cancelled for police personnel and police, home guards, Karnataka State Reserve Police have all been deployed across the state -- 18,000 in Bangalore alone.

In Ludhiana, special prayers are being held to maintain peace as the country awaits the verdict.

In Gujarat, the police have stepped up vigil in all public places, including railway stations, bus terminals, shopping centres and are frisking all vehicles coming into the state.

:(
Yes Chinmoy --- Awaiting ends today.... Hope this issue also ends here. :(
What appears from your description is that all the state governments are in a high state of alert and rightly so!
Yes the end is for this court..if verdict comes out...Thanks for sharing.... :)
I have a feeling that it would have been much better to have a negotiated solution to this problem!
May be Chinmoy... But I don't think the the people who have patience to sit and have a negotiation... :(
I think it's not only impatience but also the hard stand taken up by both the parties that's coming in the way!
Hmm yes... And also the political parties would try to bag some votes in every issue.
Common man would react the normal way... But the mob and political parties are of concern.
You are bang on! The common man is sane but his leaders are not!!
Sure there is going to be an appeal in the Supreme Court. I wish the verdict is taken in a healthy way. :) :)
It is around 3.30 P.M. Long wait is ending soon. However, the aggrieved party may go to supreme court and thus may begin another long wait.
No body has got mental maturity to accept the verdict in a healthy way. It is going to be a continual process. :(
FINAL VERDICT

The three-judge special Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court ruled by majority that the disputed land in Ayodhya be divided into three parts. It is among
1. Sunni Wafk Board.
2. Nirmohi Akhara.
3. The party for 'Ram Lalla'.

People in India have been sending in their reaction to a court decision to split a disputed holy site in the city of Ayodhya between Hindus and Muslims.

In a majority verdict, judges gave control of the main disputed section, where a mosque was torn down in 1992, to Hindus.

Other parts of the site will be controlled by Muslims and a Hindu sect.

The problem does not end as there is going to be appeal in supreme court. However, the long wait is weakening the communal sentiments and people are returning to sanity. The environment today is far better than that in 1992. I expect supreme court will also take sufficiently long time to dispose appeal yet to be filed and by then the sentiments will further fade.

Incidentally, I visualize that at the disputed site, there will be ultimately commercial complex or a park called Babri Ram Complex, with statue of Lord Rama in between. The name of mall may be shortened to B.R. mall and ultimately people would forget everything about the dispute.
YES --- The case would be continued in Supreme Court further....
