Should spammers and copycats be imposed with penalties?

Boddunan will automatically disqualify such members from participation if he repeats it again and again in spite of the warnings or notifications. He will not be eligible for payment. So imposing penalties sounds bit huge.

I am not aware of the seriousness of the situation, so can not comment on it properly.

I think deduction of points would be fine..
But right now I think Boddunan can't be so strict.. It should not be..

At later they may impose such penalties..

A system of punishment or penalties is unavoidable everywhere. There are always people who would not hesitate to employ unfairpractices. They have to be penalized. The penalty may be deduction of points/ cash credit, suspension of membership for a stated period say one month and in extremecases permanent cancellation of membership.

We should remember that if external visitors open our site and find copied content... then thy might not visit us again...

Internet users are quite vigilant about the quality contents in any site.

We should be in a position to claim ourselves to be the best... or at least one of the best on internet. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

Posting copied content is not only a violation here in Boddunan, but it's also a serious offence on the internet.People will not be happy :( to see someone taking credit for their work.(Members here should remember that this site that is crediting their article can continuously do so only if it can give the internet users good,genuine content in the long run!)

Moreover,as Amit said it's too early to start banning members here.But it can be avoided if we look out for spammers,copy-writers :P etc.,

May be Boddunan can include "Copy cat" to the profile name if the author violates repeatedly!! :D:D

It was an immediate reply & now I think I have a better !dea to stop these things....(I am a genius in discovering new Ideas ;) )

I think there should be NO Penalty for Copy-Cats,

because..
For eg- A person works for 4 days, earns 100 Points, on fifth day it happens that an article posted be him is an copied content, or partially copied, or sentence rephrased etc, & gets -50(minus 50) points...

Do you think he will stay with boddunan??

Lets say a person submits 5 articles(3copied & 2 original), Banning such user will affect Boddunan. It will not get 2 original articles.(& I don't know how many readers).


BUT, We cannot afford copied contents...
So The solution(I have it :P )
I think when some one (like you) reports an article as copied, The credits assigned to that article(Points as well as cash) should be removed..
& 25% of the same should be given to the person who catch the copied article(and the Criminal).

By this, users will read more article. & as copied content will not receive any credit, I think posting copied article will be limited...

As far as my mission is concerned... how irritating it is for some users... that you might have seen in other threads on similar subject...

Really on the very next moment of your discussion on this matter I put my opinion to have a model punishment like point deduction and member rank demotion.Here senior members are the accused.So it should be taken seriously by support team.

How about adding a new section, 'Hall of Shame'??? :P ;) :blink:

Yes Jharia. The internet visitors will compare this site with others. The poor impression arising from bad English, poor grammar and spelling mistakes will drive them away from the site. Such situation needs be avoided at all costs.

But it should be there strong copy checker software to get copied content from site its not only mistake by member to post copied content also who approved it. so both should be punished for that.

you should check content if it copied then disapproved and delete it . New member may post content but may not check it is found on other website or not.

so please make boddunan work checking system strong not so finger on members because member is power of boddunan.

It is not always possible for editors to find copied content. Imagine if the article posted on one site is posted on boddunan on same day. It will not even listed on search engines :(

And, Thanks Amit and Harish for the excellent ideas. I think, we can have a forum for Hall of Shame as well as giving the bonus points to the reporters. However, we should have a system of reporting so that the admins get less number of mails. I think a consolidated list of copied articles can be sent everyday to admin is fine. Please share your views.

A copier knows he is copying the content. He knows he is going to cheat himself , all readers and the team behind the site. So one caught it should be dealt seriously.

The members who are genuine authors and post contents after a lot of hard work will definitely oppose copied contents and condemn violation of copyright of other authors and that of the sites where the original content was published.

1. Deduction of double the points he / she earned out of the copied content

I think the idea of "Hall of Shame" has been advised by some of us out of a decent sense of humor. Opening such a feature will not project a good image of Boddunan.

Let us limit it up to the discussion forum and punishment to the defaulter that is agreed to by the Boddunan Management / Support Team.

While there may be no penalty for innocent lapses, penaltiy is absolutely necessary for deliberate and conscious deceiving by cpy nd paste. Mistakes are okay but frauds should not be pardoned. This is in interest of site.
