Grading system in schools and colleges is how much helpful?

It has been a rational decision to my mind as we are getting too obsessed with marks which used to create a lot of unhealthy competion among the students.

It is not a good method or a system to evaluate a student based on the marks or the grade obtained.

I would surely agree that our evaluation system is not perfect but of the two I would prefer grading system.
