Is this a topic of discussion????????????? :woohoo:
I agree, it's not a good topic to be brought up for discussion.Please think about topics bfore floating any thread!
No I don't tip when i go to hotels. They are also salaried people. :) :)
Yes i would prefer giving tip when i goto small hotels where children work! Otherwise in big hotels i don't
Hey --- I think it is not necessary in the recent times. Every hotel is including the server tip and vat in the bill... :P :P :P :P :P :P
Yet some waiters look for it! May be the owners have a share in what is shown in the bill!!
It is really sad to look children working in hotels.They have to bear the burden of the family in their young age itself. :(
It also depends on the service provided by the waiter. Some will not even give us a menu card unless asked. :(

I don't tip them. :angry:
You are right Nagalakshmi... But some waiters are very much helping.. they even take my kid and rome about while I am having my meal.. :)

I do tip them more.. :)
If the government is really serious about knowing the problem of child labor it has to send its men to these roadside eateries,motels and dhaabas!
Yes chinmoy, we must start a separate topic for child labour problem.

this is a big problem in world. according to me i think that it is related to our social system and it is a Curse for our society .so i request to every person in world to make a honest effort to get ride of these problem .
The tip depends on amount of bill and time spent. Usually, I give one note and don take any change in return. For example, if the bill is Rs. 280/- I shall give three Rs. 100 notes and not take anything back. If I give Rs. 500/- note, I shall receive back only two Rs. 100/- notes. In short, I pay in round sum above the actual bill, balance being tip.
In five star hotels, you donot need to tip... This would be included in the bill itself.... In recent times, I find many of the hotels are following the same process....

But coming to small hotels, they expect tip..
Not only we have to tip the waiters but also the security who helps us to park the vehicle.
@Sajeetharan

It's a good idea to have a separate thread for this very srious problem in India.

Tip and other such practices are contribution of British rule. Tip was called Baksheesh. Such payments are now a routine. If you do not tip, this will be considered odd.
@Gulshan

I am not against giving it but what I want to highlight is the shameful abuse and gross exploitation of children by roadside eateries and most of the working hands are kids and they don't get any tips either!!
