Men use perfumes more than a women. Regarding other cosmetics. I would like to say that women use more cosmetics than men.It is so because they want to look young and beautiful. They spend whole day in makeup. However men need to run fast. They hardly get time for such things.
I think the trend of using cosmetics has been increasing among Men at a greater rate than Women right now. But as Mathi said it will be women who will suffer most if cosmetics are banned.. :P ofcourse no one is going to ban it..
Men use shaving cream, after shave lotion whereas women use lipstick, rouge, face powder, nail polish. On the whole, women use more cosmetics and take more time in make up. Women spend more time in beauty parlors than men.
Now there are equal number of beauty parlous available in the society both for men and women. Men are also having some beauty conscience these days!!! ;) ;) ;)
Men are using mre cosmetics now, it is not just an aftershave lotion or moisturiser, but many men have now taken up using face scrubs, body lotions, etc. Men are also using more of hair colors, higlights in their hair etc. They are taking their grooming and appearance mroe seriously than they used to take previously!
Yeah you are right Jyothi and Kalyani --- Keeping these points in mind, there are many facial kits, deodorants, fair creams, scrubs available in the market only for men.

Women use more cosmetics to please men. Men felt that women need only bread and butter and they were not interested in look of men. Now women are more demanding and men need to please them with look also. so men have to visit beauty parlors.
How you look matters. Appearance comes first and your talk/ behavior next. Hence, pleasant and emphatic appearance is necessary for men as well as women.
Make up means 'completing the deficiency'. For example, if a train is late and is running fast and covers some of the time delayed, we say the train has made up the time. Thus make up is compensating the deficiency in beauty. So, make up should be only as much as is necessary to compensate the deficiency in natural beauty. Over make up will be counterproductive.

Right Gulshan, its the new term that has come recently concerning - A Metrosexual man - a man who is well-groomed, well-dressed and savvy in appearance. Everyone likes to talk to a person - man or woman who are properly groomed and attractively dressed!
external beauty doesn't matter much. and yes, regular workouts or engaging in some sports, will keep one fit and the body will also be in pretty good shape.
Women are used to cosmetics right from day 1. But, now a days the market have introduced new face creams, gels, scrub and lotion especially for men. So, out of curiosity men use more cosmetics rather women according to the current trend. :)

I agree that external beauty is not enough. One must possess talent, good manners and thoughts and be industrious. But first impression is of looks, clothes, hair style, facial appearance. You will talk in a day only to a few but many more will see you. If your first impression is disappointing, you may not get opportunity to display your inner beauty and other plus points. This is the reason why we bother about dress, make up and appearance when we are interviewed for job or for marriage proposal.
