Nice picture Chinmoy!

Also history abounds with several incidents of animals committing suicide upon loss of their masters!

Shrimant Baji Rao Balaji Bhat, more famously known as Bajirao I, died on April 28, 1740 still in his prime. He died of a sudden fever, possibly heat stroke, while inspecting his jagirs and en route to delhi with one lakh troops under his command at his camp in the district of Khargon, near the city of Indore. He was cremated on April 28, 1740, at Raverkhedi on the river, Narmada. His horse was so grief stricken that he refused food and water completely and died within some days after his master's death! This is somewhat akin to committing suicide under stress.
Wow!!
So many amazing facts about the animals' unusual behavior.
Thanks a lot friends.
Facts about "Jatinga" is news for me!!
Oh! His horse is very much attached to his master. You are right Kalyani.... Animals also commit suicide...
Humans can communicate, can express their feelings.. As animals cannot communicate, many may think that they donot perform such things as suicide... But I was now cleared that animals also have stress and commit suicide.
Never, Animal are not having the thinking power in the different ways. Animals having the thinking power that, how to get food and how to protect from other enemy Animals and hunters.

Animal attacks on other animals and other insecured.

Animals never commit to sucide.Animal psychology is different from Man psychology.

I remember of one of my incidents...... I have something to tell about my pet dog "Bunny".
Bunny was very much attached to my Grandpa. When my Grand father expired, he did not eat food for 11 days till my Grandpa's funeral and all the rituals completed.
We were really surprised to see him like that....

deepti. yes it is real thing. dogs has that kind of activities.
It happened with our home also. The dog's name was robin.

but it is not considered as a suicide. It is called sacrifice.
what;s your opinion.
Yes Mathi... I just want to share about my pet after seeing the incident of the horse's sacrifice, stated by Kalyani. This is all out of grief.

That is how animals also have a soft corner towards the humans..
Pets are emotionally connected to people. so, they get depressed and reject food when they lose their dear one. There is also a posibility that they are not aware of the fact that negligence of food will result in death. How can we call that a suicide?
Nagalakshmi! You are seeing it through different angle.
Quite Interesting!!!
:)
Yes, Nagalakshmi is right in her views. It can't be called suiciding.
If we accept this fact then would not be fair for the animals. We are forgetting one thing here which is that the animals are also intelligent in many ways. One thing that is known to ALL living beings is that the need for food! It is an instinctive factor which makes them hunt for food when hungry. So when they refuse eating food even when they are hungry, they know that it is harmful. so it CAN Be called as committing suicide.

I hope you will agree to this.
Good Point Kalyani!! You are right!!

Now this discussion taking an interesting turn!!

Great Going!!
Good question, i had never ever thought of it, do they really commit suicide
That's an interesting news but I don't think it is very much logical. A very common example that I want to give is cats and dogs. Whenever they have an upset stomach or are feeling ill, they completely abstain themselves from eating food. At that point if you keep their extremely favorite foods right under their noses, they will still refuse it. Sometimes, to make themselves better, they eat grasses, yes cats and dogs do eat grasses when ill, to flush out their stomach off of whatever is making them ill. If this is not self-awareness, then what is? So saying that they are not aware of what they are doing or what will harm them is an insult to their intelligence.
Animals have also brain but this is more an instinct. The examples given are about domestic or pet animals. These animals acquire some human traits owing to sheer company. Possibly, a dog may follow the naster in observing fast or other habits. Some animals are insects may have instinctive irge for suicide. Man is the only living being who mayplan and execute.
It is very strange thing. I heard first time. Thanks to sharing.
Animals have less reasons for suicide. They do not get frustration from failures in business, romance, career, speculation and gambling loss. They have neither instinct nor reason to commit suicide
