Reverse engineering is found to be successfull for languages like JAVA, .net which don't produce machine code, instead they produce code which could be interpreted by respective frameworks.

Reverse Engineering is a very interesting and highly profitable technique. If possible see the film "Paycheck" its a perfect movie to understand what reverse engineering is.
