Check status of Polls

Please correct me if i am wrong.The status (the answers for the polls) of the polls submitted can not be viewed by the poller.
The reason for polls is to view what answers were voted by others so that their opinion could be understood. The only way to view the status seems to vote for the question, but clicking that option would seem like voting for yourself. Is there any method of viewing the answers voted? May be i am not aware of it. Please tell me.
