The advocates and others in Meerut and Agra are campaigning hard for establishing bench of Allahabad High court at Meerut and agra respectively. The political parties have also entered the arena. Surprisingly, local units of All India and state level political parties have taken stand on local basis. Thus stand taken by local branches of same political party at these place differ.
The issue should not be sensitized. It will be better that a decision be taken on some logical basis in public interest. Either there should be no bench in Western U.P. or the criteria should be number of litigants or court fee revenue realized from different places. Nobody should object to a decision arrived at after considering relevant criteria.
