Friends,

What we have witnessed in the past three days is just shocking and mind-boggling involving the strike by all sections of Air India employess.Air India has been in the news for all the wrongs- its perfunctorines,utterly insensitive attitude to the passengers.Thousands of passengers were put to an inhuman situation.I think time has come to privatize this public sector behemoth.What do you think?

Actually Ministers like our Civil Aviation Minister should be put on sale for poorly managing the affairs of the ministry and thereby not able to help the state entity like-Air-India to survive
I agree. The Government should formulate policies and make plan. The actual running of business should be left to private sector.
The latest show of firmness in dealing with the striking leaders of the unions was long overdue.The employees of Air India may have genuine grievances against its management but why do they hold passengers to ransom?
Strike is not a method of genuine struggle. This is being nincreasingly used as blackmail. This is no better than plane hijacking.
Air India is doing unnecessary things. This is very inconvenient to Passengers. Firing the employees is also not good decision.
@Rakesh,
I agree dismissal from jobs is an extreme measure which should be resorted to in extreme situations.
Hope due to the reaction of the Air India employees, the topic of Privatization is coming into picture!!!
Where is accountability? The employees gave notice of a strike to be effective from 31st May.Then they decided to resort to a wildcat strike leaving thousands of passengers high and dry which was subsequently declared illegal too by the court.That was the height of irresponsibility!
Will privatisation put an end to all these? When they becomes the king the same may happen and people will have no more voice.
I guess privatisation of Air India would definitely improve the overall quality of the organisation, but in that case that would leave the passengers with no choice but to turn to private airlines which is more expensive thant govt ventures! What we need is revamping the policies and the attitudes of the govt. employees!
@Kalyani

Air India's ability to offer affordable price of air ticket is very much in doubt as it has been bleeding financially for decades and things have reached such a point it cannot even ensure timely payment of salaries and it is looking for bail-out package of Rs10,000 crore which is public money!!!
Privatisation is a good option in this circumstance. But again the employees may go for strike if the government decides to privatise Air India.
