It is first stadium of the world which makes use of solar energy to provide its power needs. It is semi spiral-shaped, like a dragon.
It was completed in 2009 and used mostly for athletics and rugby events, including hosting the main events for the 2009 World Games. The stadium is having a capacity of 55,000 people.
It is designed by Japanese architect Toyo Ito.
