If you want an honest opinion Santosh, Lalu prasad Yadav and his entire clan should be brought down from power, the entire system should be vigorously cleaned up the very first thing. Next thing would be to create employment opportunities for the people to put a stop to largescale migration. Bihar though is abundant in natural resources there are not much opportunities for people to earn because of political despotism. If these things are taken care of, much could be accomplished!
I personally the people of Bihar have displayed patience and tolerance of an extraordinary kind in silently suffering at the hands of their crooked polticians. The state is endowed with rich physical and natural resources and people are intelligent and hard-working.I have some of the finest friends from this state. The people of Bihar have been doing very well outside the state. It is the politicians who have let the people down.
I think due to condition of Bihar most of Bihari people went to city like Delhi , Gujarat and other developed areas to get good income.
I think One Narendra Modi type personality needed to Make Bihar as Gujarat.
I am from South part of India... But my in-laws stayed their in Patna for about 5 years, due to transfers...

I heard from them that people there used to roam around with guns.. Its been more than 10 years... Is the condition still the same?????
I think Condition is still same. Not much more change in Bihar still. Daily some news for crime in train, murders in villages we can read.
Bihar has been bifurcated. The industrailly rich partof Bihar like Jamshedpur and coal mine area of Chhota Nagpur is now in Jharkhand. Biharis is simple and hard working. Now the Biharis are doing well in I.A.S. and other services.

Lalu Yadav did no care much about infra structure and other development activities as chief minister of the state. There are many illicit home made liquer dealers in Bihar. Once he told them that if there is good road, police would come and all their business will ruin. So, the villagers told him that road is not necessary. But Lalu Yadav proved his efficiency as Railway Minister. Lalu Yadav is streightforward and simple politician. He has a humorous style. If given another chance, he may probably do much better.
I think you are right Gulshan. You express your view in better ways.
I feel Bihar and UP - both these states have been done in by their corrupt politicians.
Yes their people take more interest in political discussion and they are wasting more time on it.
Oh!! fully corrupted state!!!

I am able to get a picture of Bihar now from this thread...

Thanks Santosh!!!
I think the situation was much worse under Lalu Prasad Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi and it it much better under the present Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
It is a overpopulated state. one fact is that it is state that produces highest IAS rank officers.

Corruption is at the peak there and law and order situation is in total dispair till recent.

The latest chief minister is doing good work there as is in news.
I think another reason for no development in Bihar is central govt. not well centralized for Bihar.
why are you asking about behar in that manner?. Every state in india have its own cultures and peoples. We must know than in ancient times Behar was the most enlightened state in the northern India.
I think every state has some positive and negative point so if we point out negative point then positive point will increase . It may happen.
That's right santosh, it is quite possible that awareness may bring positive results!

Shalu, what you say is true, but that is the bygone past and we can't just rest on past glory. In order to bring back some of the lost glory, we need to strive to make people aware!
I think planning of Industrial development at Bihar can increase development.
ONLY education to the rural people can make the behari babus upbring there future. all other revolutions will reach only the posh guys.
Nitish Kumar the current chief minister seem to be effective but years of dirt accumulated there it will take time to clear it.
I agree that Nistish Kumar has been doing good aftter decades of misrule and I remeber how the criminal incidents used to capture the headlines almost on a daily basis. He has been trying his best to attract foreign capital.Another aspect which should receive his attention is tourism development as the state has got some very ancient and naturally beautiful spots.
