"Kandahar" to be Screened at Cannes Films Festival

One of the most prestigious film fests of the world - Cannes ,has just commenced and it is very heartening to learn that a renowned work of the noted filmmaker Mrinal Sen - "Kandahar" will be introduced as a special screening. A rare honor for an Indian Filmmaker.

It is really a good news.. Mirnal sen is a very talented filmmaker . He has given a lot of classic movies.. Hats off for his achievements..

His film Bhuvan Shome(1969) also initiated the “New Cinema” film movement in India. He has won his first best directer award for Bhuvan Shome.

Even though the he is 86 now and a bit frail health, he is going to be present for the speacial screening of the fim!!! :) :) :)
Some Honors :

In 1981, the Government of India awarded him with the Padma Bhushan.

In 2005, He got the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor.

He was made an Honorary Member of the Indian Parliament from 1998 to 2003.



Satyajit Roy,Ritwick Ghatak,Tapan Sinha are also some extraordinary talents in Indian cinema as far as new wave movement is concerned.
