After all all we are mere mortals and tend to behave at times being completely guided by passion and less by reasons. It would be nice to share your thoughts on this.

Agreed that we are mere mortals, but at the same time we cannot forget that we are Human beings, highly evolved and highly intelligent than any other animals on earth. Hence we have to strike a perfect balance between passion and reason. Driven only by passion may lead to reckless actions which may not be beneficial, whereas use of reason alone will result into mechanical and emotionless actions. Therefore, it is imeprative that whatever we do must contain balance between the two!

That's a very good point made by you. As we are supposed to be most rational of all animals,it is true that an appropriate balance has to be struck in our conduct. Thanks for your views.
We van live happily and enjoy life by going by our instincts and passion. The only criterian should be not to go against law and not harm anybody for our selfish motive. On the whole, our passion and instincts guide us well.
My personal feeling that these two term are not mutually exclusive.Once we are able to choose our path with reason ,we can do wonders by sticking to it with great passion.
Passion.... doing any thing with a passion towards it!

Reason..... While performing anything, there should be some reason of doing it!!!

So, our action should possess.... Passion and as well as reason in our actions......
The great social scientist Aristotle said that, "Man is a social animal and a man is a political animal".

Man is mortal.

As per the person's mental condition some times behaves pleasant and some times harsh and some times moody/off minded. Behaviour various depend upon the situation.
