By the introduction of new point system forum became active. But there sees a drawback. Many old relevant as well as irrelevant discussions (some are months ago)are coming to home page while recent discussions goes to second and third pages. So there should be a lock to too old discussions. Please share members opinions.

Abid Maverick will be on leave for some days.
Let him coma back I think this is a great suggestion to lock 1 month old forum.
Yes.Its true.I could see a discussion which is 7 months old!! .It is indeed a good suggestion to lock the old threads. But as SD said, it will take some time now to reach maverick.
Before any such time frame is contemplated it would be worthwhile to consider that some of the topics which were brought up for discussion but members did not appreciate the seriousness of them, may continue to remain relevant and topical.Let the moderator keep in mind this aspect while taking a decision on this.
It is good to lock down the old posts however certain members will be absent or not active in forum for some days due to some personal problems and when they return and find that their post are deleted and how do they feel?????????

There is no deleting.Just locking required.

Hi Fouzan ,
Put your opinion your own words.Don't copy others. You may be banned.
What does this locking imply? Would the members be able to make their comments or not?
Yes Abid. I agree with you. Many of the inactive old discussions are coming back! The old inactive discussions should be blocked so that new and fresh postings will come.

Ceem,
Members can see the discussions even after locking. But can't post a reply.

We can lock the posts which are too old or have no further scope for discussion which we will do.
nice move from mav. The irrelevant topics should be shown separated and You should give a time frame for the topics.
@Maverick

I am not in favour of any such blanket locking and I once again maintain there are some old threads which cover topic and still remain relevant. If members who are interested in making comments in the light of new developments thereafter and denied it I don't that would be a good decision.
Some times, old discussions are just overlooked. Recently, I came across an item on Ragging, which had zero response. I revived this. Instead of locking the old discussions, a discretion should be exercised regarding relevance of discussion. Secondly, when an item has received fifty comments, it should not be prolonged and needs be closed as all had sufficient opportunity to express.
Ceeem,
If you need discussion on the same matter you open a new thread which is the right way.Else the home page can be made an old mess by a naughty member.
we should some with new discussions guys!!!!!!!!
