Top 4 teams that can be seen at end of round robin in 2019 World Cup?

Which teams do you think will make it till semi final? This time it is round robin phase where each team will face all other teams in the Group stage itself. There is only one group and these matches give time to rectify flaws and take course correction and know other teams strengths and weaknesses in round robin phase itself.

Each team will play all other 9 teams once and at the end whichever teams stand in top 4 will progress to semi finals.

I am expecting England, India, Pakistan and South Africa to progress to semi finals. West Indies can spring in a surprise given their recent matches against England in West Indies.

What are your opinions?

Krunal is only good for T20 because his bowling style is not suitable for 10 overs. And over using him makes him not effective. He is same like jadeja same line and length. If batsman figures them out then they are gone. Hardik is a bit hot headed and not something I'd seriously trust. We can ignore the coffee with karan fiasco but we can't ignore his moodiness in the match.

Raina and Ajinkya rahane played so poorly when given chance. I think they got what they deserved for their poor performance and not utilizing the chance. I think they need to work in the IPL and get their career ahead. Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Raina have their career pretty much on dead end now.

Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh have not any chance. I am agree with you about Krunal and Hardik. Dinesh Kartik and Ajinkya is best option at present. Cricket is game of uncertainty, no one knows who will be success.

Ajinkya Rahane is denied for WC. Captain and the selection team does not want him. And the thing about the Dinesh karthik is kind of mixed bag right now. The way series has gone through hands of India, I think they better get good bowlers in the team. Because otherwise it would be difficult for them to bounce back in WC.

Yes Dinesh Karthik is better than Pant. If captain and selection team does not wants him that they may be consider K.L Rahul.

I checked out the SportsTak youtube yesterday. And there was one discussion that said, that IPL matches would be taken into considering and who knows they may pick some bowlers as a backup bowler from that. I think that is definitely good enough for the WC. I mean we need atleast one spinner backup and one faster bowler.

Format of IPL is differ than WC. For me IPL is only a entertainer carnival. India have three spinner, Chal, Kuldeep and Jadhav. I think these are enough.

Krunal is not meant for the 50 overs game. He was tried in the past and he turned out to be not the one to pick quicker wicket. And kedar jadhav seems to be part time spinner and that too not exactly spin. He only bowls rotation round arm bowl which if missed either get you LBW or wicket. So I think that's concerning if team is something like SA, Eng and AU or NZ.

Given the English conditions I think our pace bowlers are doing fine. I also feel that Jadeja is better bet compared to any of the Pandya brothers for the experience and his ability. He fits the slot better than any other all rounder.

I think we have to check out if we can find some alternative spinner in the IPL. Who knows we may find some good spinner and also one fast bowler that can be a good option for the world cup. You never know how the teams in WC are going to surprise us. So we need some sort of the backup for ourselves. And hopefully we get good players by the time we reach June.

Yes I am agree with you Jadeja a good filder also. Saving runs is not less important that making runs.

Now that David Warner and Steve Smith are back in the team, team Australia definitely stands a good chance in this World Cup.

Indeed, David Warner and Smith's entry will bolster the prospects of the team by a big margin. Steve, apart from his useful batting can be a useful foil in Captaincy plans, if he is eligible to play the supporting role to captain.

With the calm heads Dhoni & Rohit in the team, Virat has a good support system, however the chances of Indian team look very bleak as they do not look like playing as a team and hunting in packs which is required to win ODI games. The Batting especially is very individual dependent and not team oriented yet.

In a test match, it may augur well, but in ODI it is very important to forge meaningful and situation based partnerships which is the main thing lacking in Batting. Also the constant chop and change means, no player is settled with his role and is not confident of his abilities as much as he needs to be for an international stage of World Cup.

I have reason to believe that WI, New Zealand and Pakistan have as good chance of reaching last four stage as India, Australia, South Africa or Pakistan and Afghanistan so let's see what's in store for us as cricket is played on daily basis these days. Beside, I am not satisfied the way Kohli is handling the team or behaving on field.

My top four teams for the semi finals would be -

                                                                    1) England

                                                                    2) Australia

                                                                    3) India

                                                                    4) New Zealand

The reason I am picking England is simple - because of their ODI form in the recent years at home. Also, I am going with Australia because of the return of David Warner and Steve Smith. Then India because of their in form top order (Rohit, Dhawan, and Kohli). And last but not the least, going with New Zealand as they have always been a dangerous side in big tournaments. Moreover, this time they have a pretty balanced outfit as well to exploit the English conditions.

India always lacked quality all rounders. I don't see Hardik as a good all rounder yet in ODI's. He performs only when provoked by some circumstances. Jadeja is a lousy Batter. Vijay Shankar still needs some time to be analysed. If we see the likes of Australia, New Zealand and England we can find some very great all rounders.

Hardik performed well in the Champions Trophy in trying English conditions when he took on Pakistan single handedly in the final with the bat. He bowled decently as well in that tournament. He has matured and grown as a cricketer and is improving both with the bat and the ball everyday. However, you are right, he still has a long way to go!

Hardik have not continuity in performance. Some time he proved a expensive bowler, He can not play according to situation. Vijay shankar have not enough experience but he is better.

I too feel the same about Hardik. Also Vijay Shankar is good in the chances he has got in both bowling and Batting. In bowling he is not very good to bowl 10 overs but he is good in the overs that he bowls.

However their fortunes have reversed this IPL. Vijay Shankar has performed badly and Hardik is performing very good.
