Here I am tempted to narrate the efforts of some state governments/ others to bring early rains. A state minister arranged marriage of frogs and in one state yajnas were performed for rains. I wonder if excessive rains in Mumbai were because of too many frog marriages. If so, they should perform some frog divorce ceremony to lower the curse of excessive rains.

Very true anil, here at Mangalore we have been having extremely heavy rains since a moth which is normal during monsoons. Today it has rained non stop since 4 am onwards...but no complaints, we enjoy the season and welcome it every year ..

I appreciate your wit Gulshanji!! But there is no ritual of divorce in our culture and lawyers have enough pending cases in the court!!

@ anil. Surely there are lovely songs in Bollywood for Monsoon. But after some rain, the poor infrastructure in our cities makes Monsoon a devil for daily life.

In Imphal we ve been having rain throughout the year and it peaked in second week of june causing floods. Many people are yet to return back to normal life. By the grace of God, the flood has receded now. Nowadays we don't have rain. Sometimes it drizzles only.

These natural disasters due to excessive rain brings so much damage to life. That is the sad part and it happens each year in some or other part of the country. Sadly the lower income group is the worst effected one.

I left India in the 3rd week of June before any significant rain started in our area therefore unable to tell you my experience. But what I read in local online newspaper, my area is having normal rain.

Every thing is with grace of God, Write some positive about rain season, how you will celebrate there?

Yesterday It rained quite heavily in Bangalore. Luckily none of us four were on road facing the hassles of traffic in a rainy season. We enjoyed our evening tea with hot pakodas sitting in our terrace garden. Rain is so enjoyable when you are in your home having ginger tea with hot pakodas. We did play soothing gazals in the background, though not the rainy season songs.

In my town and district we are facing a lot of difficulties and schools are closed since Saturday because in many villages walking bridges ,the only means of getting to the road are submerged and there are many students who use boats to cross tivers which is now impossible with all rivers flowing above danger limits, many old houses have collapsed killing several people .

But, yes I do enjoy the rains especially at night when you are comfortably tucked into your bed and the sound of rain lulls you to sleep.

Yesterday a lady, mother of three was killed in Mumbai trying to avoid a pothole and run over by a bus. One can only blame the authorities concerned , the Shivsena which is in charge of the city corporation and BJP which is in power. One can understand Shivsena and it's utter neglect and arrogance but one expected better from Fadnavis and his team , very disappointing since they had been told that Mumbai was very unsafe during monsoons and to make the required arrangements..there is no point in blaming the past govt or what happened in the past because they were voted to power precisely because the previous govt did not perform.

Usha, Shivsena is indeed to blame for the sorry state of affairs in Mumbai as well as the NCP which has say in suburbs of Thane where accident took place. Even though BJP is in rule in the state, it is Shivsena that holds the municipality and we know the two parties, although are in alliance, are constantly in a tussle with each other with no one ready to take responsibility fully, Where BJP wants to step in and do constructive work, the Sena ego is hurt...etc.

Rain also come with some problems but is it must to survive. Enjoy this season. go for long walk and when you are wet enjoy hot tea and some hot snakes. It is my choice in my student life.

We are responsible for disaster which we are facing with rain. In my city condition is also very bad. With little rain road are get filled with water. Here drainage system is not working properly. People here construct building on drains. Cleaning of drains is not possible. Second problem is polythene. All these chocked drains.

I agree Kalyani that Shivsena and NCP are behind the debacle , but the govt in power should have the grit and commitment to  overcome these lapses . From what I am told , the state govt conveniently blames the other two and does nothing ...

Usha, it is not if as Devendra Fadnavis is not doing anything, p[eople can only talk but not try to understand implications of anything much. He is busy dealing with all kinds of demonstrations and agitations one after other in his short rule of just 3-4 years, something which we never saw happen earlier. The sole reason being that he is a Brahmin by birth and means pure business. He has stepped hard on a number of toes as a result of which we see the opposition growing.

People talk about Amir Khan's water initiatives but no one gives a damn to Fadnavis's Jal Yukta Shivar which he initiated the very year he came into office and has done much better than other initiatives but we don't see any glamour around him so no one talks about that. Another positive thing he did for farmers was to allow them to sell their produce directly to consumers without involving middlemen (who mostly happened to be NCP sycophants) so that the farmers gained more than they did earlier. And what was the result - the farmers marched on Mumbai wearing red caps and waving red flags! While he is left dealing with the likes of Ambedkar - who is no lesser a hooligan, Shivsena who should be doing all they can for uplifting the lives of Mumbaiites is playing a role of opposition every step of the way!

In fact, ask anyone from Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis is the best that happened to us after a long long time. Those who think differently are probably from NCP, congress or have blind vision!

It is culture and tradition to blame ex-government. If previous government did not do work than it is not licence to present government to not to do anything.

All is well but I don't understand that when farmers are getting more than earlier than why they are marched on Mumbai?
