Generally May day is thought of as a day that reminded people of the importance of the working class and some even associate it for some reason with communism . In India, the first May Day celebration was organised in Madras (Chennai) by the Labour Kisan Party of Hindustan in 1923. Today, it is a nationwide bank and public holiday. They demand that their interests are safeguarded vis-à-vis their employers which include the government as well.
