Nothing Mightier Than Media

Media and journalism has seen a lot of ups and downs , also positive growth in the past two decades. With the opening up of the economy , media has had a greater role to play as a mediator between different nations. 

With power comes responsibility but power is heady at least to some extent. It may be humanly impossible to remain totally uneffected by power .

 Media are very powerful and can play a very big role in bringing about the changes in the society.   However, nowadays with so much competition among the media, journalism tends to become rather a collection of sensational news. And its so irritating when they do it out of proportion.

Media is powerful no doubt about it. But if it gives biased opinion people can make out and are capable of discounting it. Today the ptrint media is overtaken by the electronic media 

Right from the early days media has always been biased because initially there was no freedom. They had to report what was approve by the rulers.But, now they have become daring and bolder but bias continues . I am told that either top financiers, actors or  politicians fund certain media houses and thereby call the shots as well. Arnab had to face a lot of struggle because of his frontal attack on politicians, finally left TOI because it did not suit the owners ! Now his new venture is eagerly awaited..

I agree. There are all kinds of media outlets. Some left-leaning, some right leaning. But what I've seen with Arnab is that he bashes all those who misuse their power, irrespective of the party. Its natural for him to make enemies, some of them considerably powerful. We need more of such journos.

Apparently , Arnab was shunted out of TOI because of certain celebrities who were affiliated to a political party . His style of being direct in his attack did not suit them 

Media is powerful as long as this is credible. Unfortunately, most of the media is increasing getting unreliable and incredible. Now the media is also seen more as entertainment than for getting true coverage of news.

It is an undeniable fact that today freedom of speech is under thread. Owing to this reason, India slipped to 136 out of 180 countries in the 2017 world press freedom index by media watch dog Reporters without Borders.

Trust rambabu to misinterpret even a straight forward news report (blog)...frankly can't be sure which is worse - his parrotted posts or the misinterpreted posts !

I am also waiting for Arnab's channel very eagerly. Actually, his volume did not suit many of the popular journos as well as the viewers . He was considered arrogant and a suppressor but honestly speaking I liked his way of journalism. People would think twice before opening their mouth which for a true journalist was a welcome change. Hope he continues to be the same and give TOI a befitting reply.

Same here, he changed the entire perception of media and reporting. Truly a fearless and unbiased journalists who was hated by some politicians but generally loved by the public..

Yes, he does have that dominating personality and always likes to have an upper hand. No wonder his style of journalism is subjected to trolls, parodies and what not. But the stand he takes on issues is what separates him from others.

There is a word for those journalists who allegedly support or reflect the opinions of anti-nationals - presstitutes. They call it freedom of speech but don't realize the negative impact they have on the viewers.

Today we see how effective and important investigative journalism is to a nation with the unmasking of all the traitors in Kashmir and elsewhere too in the nation who have shown support by knowing facts but inspite of it  remaining silent for decades ..

Exactly. But unfortunately, investigative journalism comes with a heavy price.The journalists exposing such traitors face death threats and harassment from those who have vested interests in keeping the kettle boiling.
