In India, Education is not focused or planned for jobs. Many a times we hear from people specially youngsters and their parents that the graduation is completed but job search is going on. Reason for this is not more population or more educated people but the Quality of the education pursued. This is true for all the steams whether Arts, commerce, science, engineering or medical.
While talking with many recruiters in corporate, we always get answer that talented people are not available and candidates are not ready for the job. most of time it has been observed that companies visit some campus targeting recruiting numbers but go back with less recruited candidates. It is not that candidates are bad or the companies are not willing to invest in human capital but issue is the gap between expected and available talent.
So, Getting right education is minimum eligibility for job but having needed skills for target industry is utmost critical nowadays to avoid joblessness even after graduation and post graduation.
Once graduation is more enough to get a job, but nowadays merely getting graduation was not entertained to acquire job. If you want to get job, really you should learn more skills and competencies required in your sector along with your degree. Also updating yourself is required in all field. Otherwise merely graduation doesn't work on techno era
Any company or employer prefer higher educated employees for his/her company and as per requirement of the employer. He/she select candidates if the candidate match with employer's requirement. So our higher education assist us somewhere in getting a better job & most important our experience, we should consider experience but without your higher degree you may face some problem in getting promotion even if you have experience of many years. Very true .. A smart person is able to easily shine in any field because of his or her ability. A person living in my neighborhood had to flee Kuwait during the war and had to start from scratch. He used up all the experience he had while working for a canteen in Kuwait and started small , now he has 3 branches and doing well because of his attitude..
I have volunteers who have only basic education till PU and have wonderful attitude to learn. They learn and are more effective and efficient. Whereas with few high degree people this attitude is other way around...they have this know it all attitude which inhibits their learning and personal growth.
So it is the person behind the degree or knowledge who matters
