Salute to this man thinking, his helping nature is really a wonderful gift for the humans to whom he donated his bloods. We should really appreciate his wise and sacred thinking isn't it.

By donating blood, he's lighting a lamp in the lives of the people, even at this old age. Blessed are such people.

Very good by the doctor. I am sure there are a lot of similar humanitarian people in india as well. We need to support and make them famous too

By donating Blood, Thousand times, James Harrison, not only stood as the Epitome of Nobility, but dispelled and dismissed all the myths about blood donation .

Yeah there are many myths regarding donating bloods and he really erased all the confusion which people have on donating blood many times.

Many people will not dare to donate Blood. Because they think blood donation weakens them. which is far from truth. The same fear is there about number of times one can donate Blood.  They fear  one should not donate blood more than once in an year.Experts say that one can donate Blood every Three to Six months.

It feels great to have such people in this world ..

We have a family friend a true cut throat business man . But he donated blood free since he is O positive and is a universal donor. It started many years ago when one of his relatives a doctor Had an emergency accident case on his hands and wanted blood for a patient. This businessman donated blood and the patient pulled through. I suppose that somehow made him realise the power we have in our hands which can help an individual and an entire family. Now through  a few doctors well known to him , he donated blood regularly..

On the other side unfortunately, there is a darker side behind the noble deed, Blood Donation. Very recently, in Hyderabad,a Lab Technician in Blood Bank was arrested for selling  blood  of rare  groups to the needy at exorbitant rates in a Private Hospital.

A very noble gesture on his part. A correction although is needed, it is not the blood but the plasma that he is donating. there is a difference in the two.

Welcome! You should change the title accordingly.

In fact I too wanted to point it out ...Plasma is not blood but it is the colorless fluid part of blood or lymph in which corpuscles or fat globules are suspended.

I dont think one can donate plasma since it is part of blood..

No Usha, Plasma can be donated and it is very safe procedure. To donate plasma, blood is withdrawn from the body like in a normal blood donation. This withdrawn blood is then passed through special equipment using centrifugal technology in which the plasma and the blood cells are seperated. This plasma is collected and the blood cells are returned to donor's body. The Mr. Harrison, the subject of this thread, contains a specific protein in his blood plasma which is very rare, and which is why he is sought after donor for his plasma. It is only due to lack of awareness regarding plasma donation that people do not much about it or the medical usage of plasma.

@ Kalyani

A neat and simple clarification  about Plasma donation. Despite  all this, I wonder how this noble deed is still going on with the name 'Blood Donation. Any how Blood Donation lights a lamp in the lives of the people whose lives are saved. This satisfaction makes the Donor and the Donee Happy.
