I don't know, but my Neighbor who knows more about  Panchanga and about the rituals to be performed today said so. In fact we, just perform the Pooja in the morning hours. And lot of Cultural progtrammes will be performed in the evening. The high light of these programme is 'Ashtavadhanam' One person answers different questions asked by different questioners at a time.

What am I going to gain by saying things not connected with the Festival? See back, where i said the preparations are on the way for the evening function of Dahi Handi. And I also added , Here Dahi Handi is not filled with Dahi but with Cream and Milk which are very dear to Krishna.

The problem with you is your stubborn, I am always right attitude, make wrong statements and when proof is given try to argue but never accept that may be there was a mistake from your side..This happens all the time with you ! It is you who should be reading all your posts just to know your confusing flipflops and contradictions..

No problem,..

Just for information can any other member not ask for a thread to be closed or only the initiator has the right?

In Movies different Music directors composed melodious songs connected with Janmastami. Here is a list. Out of these my Favorite is ' Govinda Aalare' from the Movie " Bluff Master". The song was pictcurized on Shammi Kapoor.. Music was composed by KalyanJi- Anandji

Besides this song there are other Songs related to Janmastami. Hear these Songs.

@ vijay, if the initiator of the topic has been missing for a long period of time , not taking part in the discussion nor responding to others posts , I guess any member could request the moderator to close the thread. Also, if a thread is dragging along after having exhausted all possible topics and sub topics and is being filled with repetitive posts members can request to close the thread.

Happy Janmashtami to all. It's really a very big festival throughout India. On this day ISKCON Temples are worth watching. May everyone's wishes come true!

I witnessed Janmastami celebrations in ISKCON,  Krishna temple, Vizag

Bhajans and Spiritual talks fill the Morning sessions. In the evening,, " Utlotsav", the breaking of the Butter Pot, children's competitions follow.

The ISKON branch of Mangalore is just a few footsteps away on the same road where We live and since there days I wake up to the change of Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna..very festive ! Here the procession with the breaking of pots filled with curds or may be white colored water and cultural programs will be held today , which will be the last and final day of celebration.

Here in Vizag, ISKCON is located on a picturesque spot known as Sagar Nagar. on Sea. Seeing Janmastami programmes is really a feast to the eyes and mind.

I am very sorry to say that Janmashtami in Maharashtra is now reduced to a cheap show of money and power by politicians all across the state. It has now become a competition of who is able to bring a celebrity guest (read:latest hot Bollywood actress) to their Dahi Handi celebration and who gives out the highest amount of award. Stages are built by blocking busy streets and dancer girls are brought in the evenings to dance on cheap item songs until late in the night until teams arrive to break the pot. The recent ruling by the court was not just tossed away but torn and trampled on with rowdy buffoons in their drunken stupor!! confounded.png

The condition of festivals in India are the same in all the states.  Sanctity and dignity  of Festivals are  being dominated by Commercialism, show and noise . here in AP cheap and vulgar Recorded Dances  go all along the night using blaring Mikes.
