Too fat for auto

Being fat is troublesome for many reasons. A Mumbai girl was not allowed in an auto just because she was too fat.  The fat, old/aged and sick are often not welcome in public transport for several reasons. They can't move in and out fast. They need more space to sit.  Personally, I need more leg space and so feel difficulty in over loaded cab.

A Mumbai girl did not take the fact lightly. she reported the matter to police and also on social sites.

Obesity is like a disability. Old age, disables and sicks are required special care. Using public transport is also their right.

For some people it is easy to make fun of obese people, but such people should think that no one like to get obese. There are some or the other reasons for obesity. What can a obese person do if he/ she needs to use public transportation? No one has right to deny services to obese people.

Asmi Shah who was insulted by the Auto driver, doesn't have any right to pass snide comments on Asmi's fatness. Autos can refuse to fat people on any other reasons like hiking the price or any other reason. But cannot ridicule or heckle the passenger's body condition.

It is ok to report the incident because the girl too has rights. she can also think of taking this incident as a challenge and decide to reduce her weight which would help her remain fit and healthy in the coming years. I read somewhere that people weighing beyond a certain weight limit will have to pay more depending in their extra weight

In fact , such an incident happened in the USA where a very fat passenger was disallowed to board a flight because he was occupying too much space thereby inconveniencing the passenger sitting next to him. It makes sense because every passenger has the right to travel in comfort for which they have paid. the airlines on the other hand will have to look at possibilities where they can either charge the fat passenger more and provide a bigger seat to them or charge for two seats and let them use two seats..

Asmi Shah herself said her intention was not to see the auto driver was punished.. She intended to stop the discrimination and teach him a lesson. The auto driver has no right to insult anybody. At the most he could have demanded a higher charge. Auto driver's impudence is  highly objectionable. Whether to reduce her weight or not is purely her business.

We see that from the beginning all film comedians are fat like tun tun and a couple of others who I can't remember the names of.. Even in real life this is what happens. But with all that we see people letting themselves go after a certain stage..however, one can bring in obesity with regard to health and fitness but their rights as citizens cannot be denied. Apparently, so far the police gave done nothing regarding the lady's complaint.

I remember Gope an actor of yesteryear  who was fat . His very presence evokes laughter.. Coming to the topic, Asmi Shah was subjected  to humiliation in the presence of her co passengers by the Auto driver. Which is why she complained the police. The police assured the lady that an action will be taken on the Auto driver. Nothing has been mentioned what happened after that.

CO passengers? How many people can an auto hold? And frm where did you get the idea that she was insulted in front of CO passengers? There was no such thing.... She just wanted to pick up her mother half way through, that's all. please read the article provided , properly before jumping to conclusions..

There were three Passengers. The auto driver was having another two passengers besides Asmi Shah. After some time, Asmi Shaw wanted to pick up her mother on the way. The Auto driver said, Hope your mother is not as fat as you. This is all according to the link article.

Can you please show the exact sentences where it says there were two passengers besides Asmi Shah because I cannot see it anywhere unless it is hidden somewhere .

If a mistake happens even after reading the link article, it may be accidental. When Asmi was sitting in a corner seat, the Auto driver said Move to the center so that Auto will be balanced.  Raising hue and cry on trivia is not the thing that is important. The important thing is whether  Asmi has been insulted or not. If he has insulted, why action should not be taken against him.

First of all too many such mistakes happen from your side and instead of immediately rectifying it, you go on justifying where there is no justification like in this intance where you imagined there were two more passengers along with Ashmi ...If you read the articles carefully before jumping to respond to each and every comment , it would be easier for all members who ultimately lose interest in responding because of the many flip flops..

@usha RAMBABU will never agree to his mistakes and will stick to his many unjustified stands. I tried many months ago and got and keep getting only abuse from him for my useless contributions. It is pointless to expect his pursuit of points to change!!

if someone is fat then it is better to teach him something good things which will encourage him/her to loose his weight rather than insulting

No one can teach another person unless they want to do something. At he most we can direct students and minors but once an individual is an adult, he r she is expected to understand and know what is good or bad for them...There may be any number of reasons why a person is fat, so best to leave them alone to deal with it..

Auto driver have not right to hike fare. He also can not refuse but he can say that if passange can ride in auto than he have no problem.

Yes. Saying , that the Passenger  cannot avail the services, as he's not going in the route asked by the passenger. This would have been OK instead of insulting the passenger.

There are several issues involved since the interaction is only between the girl and the auto driver with no witnesses, it is not easy to come to a conclusion . The auto driver has a right t accept or not accept a passenger unless there is a rule that says that he cannot refuse any passengers . To prove that he has refused solely because she was fat would be very difficult to prove even in the police station. At best, the police may call the auto driver and warn him..

The very fact that the auto driver accepted the passenger to take her to her destination says that there is a rule that says an auto driver cannot refuse a passenger to take the passenger  if the passenger's route assigned by the Traffic dept falls in the route of the auto driver's assigned route.. That's the reason why the auto driver accepted. Now coming to the point if the auto driver insulted or not, one should see without a valid and strong reason a complaint  will not be lodged been lodged, especially by an educated woman. The police accepted her complaint and assured to take an action against the auto driver.. under these conditions, it's not difficult to come to a conclusion. More importantly, she has revealed the Auto number in her complaint.

RE: Too fat for auto

Like the passengers the auto driver too has some rights and the police would take that into consideration if and when they decide to take any action..
