Tasting wine is indeed a very bizarre job. Many could envy the wine taster.  But this is continuous job throughout the day.  First smell. Your must have powerful nose to distinguish as to which glass has a different wine. Then swallow a little from the glass and explain whether this is okay. Then spit out the content and take water. Again the routine continues.

Well i don't know that but i have tasted wine mostly in winter because it keeps my body warm in winter

I think you are right although the job may not be as popular in India where tea tasters are more in demand. I have seen its complicated procedure  in Guwahati where the tasters use 40-50 different samples mixing them with each other. As far wine tasting is concerned it's a popular job paid on job basis in Australia and European countries.

I have no idea about wine tasters but long ago I came to know about tea tasters from someone who had a good knowledge of this job. After hearing the routine of this kind of job I felt it's very monotonous. They are very highly paid. The wine tasters seem to have the same task as the tea tasters thus, very highly paid.

Yes they are very highly paid and some of them even work without money chosen from the public. I was subscribed to one job site in Australia who wanted to know public opinion and I joined one such survey in their campus. They did not pay any substantial amount but what I got was enough and the chance to taste some thing unique (in little quantities) and provide them feedback.

No doubt wine tasting is a highly paid job. But there are lot of precautions to be taken. The most important thing about which a wine taster has to take care of,  the tasting buds that play a vital role are to be kept in a good healthy condition. A wine tater or a Tea taster's final decision decides the cost of the tea or wine in the market. A wrong decision may cause immense losses to the respective organizations.

They do not do it based on one taster's report but a whole lot of people are involved. Some are paid employees and others selected from the public those willing to take part randomly from the list of applicants.

True. A wine making company employs a set of Wine tasters. Anyhow, the fact that wine makers choose some Wine tasters from the public is not known to me.

Here I am reminded of my own story about cigarette taster. This is also a moral against consuming tobacco.  A pet bear tastes cigarette instead of the master employed as cigarette taster.  One day the poor bear dies because of cancerous affect of tobacco.

Sometimes you work for a new experience and sometimes due to out of love and money does not matter. Your participation as a taster gave you an experience to share with us which is great. It was definitely a good break from your regular job.For the regular tasters the taste bud needs to be very strong and they must have a passion for such a job or else they would loose interest very easily.

Of course. With a  burning passion , it's possible to archive perfection. Provided you are employed or chosen by the Wine manufacturer.

Wine tasting is a specialised job and in Switzerland , France and Germany they have courses conducted for them. It is a very sought after profession there although I am told very few are able to rise and become perfect ...I have attended a short lecture conducted by  wine tasters at a vineyard in Germany and I was amazed to hear how intricate the course is and how sensitive ones senses need to be..

Exactly. Wine tasters should be endowed with very sensitive organs especially their tasting buds.. After all sensitive organs play a pivotal role in a Wine taster's life.

I don't agree, what a wine taster will do if he passed out after consuming the first sample. So, I feel he should have good capacity of drinking more than his taste buds.beers.png

If he passed out after after consuming the first sample, it says that the wine is very strong. Then automatically the other things follow in quick succession. He will be shown the exit.

I doubt if a wine taster would be as stupid as that...Normally they only take a drop of wine and are able to grade it through the smell and flavor. They definitely dont get drunk on wine !

Yes. Sunil made the comment in a lighter vein. And my response was also in a lighter vein.

It is saying  " Bund Bund se Ghra Bharta hai" If wine taster taste 100 samples than it enough for him to loose control. Some wine are much strong. Here two products of Sri gangnagar Sugar mill "Kesar Kasturi and Jagmohan know for its strongness.

They may not taste 100 wines a day because I doubt as many new wines are produced in a single day in a place...But I am sure they do taste a few at least and they know their job so no worries ..

There will be several Wine tasters. A single wine taster need not taste 100 samples.

No company in the world introduces many wines everyday. Wine tasting is unlike tea tasting which is based on blending of different kinds of tea and taste them. No single produce however good in quality will taste good in its original form but it will have to be mixed with other produces even if from the same garden but blended in different way and developed differently.
