If people will starts objection on jokes than it is not possible for any one to write jokes. Here in local paper names of character of jokes are Surja and Nathu, In coming it may be possible that person who's name is Surja and Nathu file a petition. It is better to check the intention of the person.

Ahaha... really funny names. But Anil a joke should taken as a joke and taken lightly. Anyone should not be offended. As long as Jokes are treated as jokes, its OK. This should be borne in the minds of the people who crack jokes on others And in this respect Sardars are not an exception.

The very purpose of a joke is to evoke laughter and lighten the situation, so that all can have a hearty laugh. This aspect has to be taken seriously. Otherwise, the very purpose of a Joke will be lost.

rambabu wrote:Sardar Jokes were made famous and popular by Sardar Kushwant Singh, himself a Sardar. Sardars equally relished these Jokes.
Sardar Khushwant Singh never wrote a joke himself but collected them from different sources and published in his own name. However, Sardar is a community which enjoyed cracking jokes on themselves and never felt bad about them.

You are right. Khushwant Singh compiled sardar jokes from different authors. Sardars never felt insulted due to Jokes written on them. This is what Khushwant says, Sardars have the ability to laugh at themselves.
