Is this just an indication of acure unemployment that even Ph.D scholars apply for peon job. It is revealed that Ph.D is very easy in many universities, especially deemed universities. PhD is awareded even on silly topic like double entry book keeping. Mo wonder such PH.d holders are suitable only for peon job.

It says about two things. The unpleasant and unsavory condition prevailing in our education system. Second is it's easy to get a Ph.D but not a job.

Over a period of time we can see how our education system has been commercialised and has become a good proposition for some people it is also a good way of turning their illegal earning into legal especially for politicians. Degrees are being bought easily for a price but when it comes to proving oneself they fail to make the mark and the result is creation of under employment probably even for those who have worked hard for attaining a degree.

The sorry state of education system is mainly due to there is no scope for innovation and thinking. There is a big void between education and Application to the real life.

well i think that the student of or the pass out phd applying for peon job because they really need a job. Which is obvious that they want money so that they may help his/her family or himself/herself. But it is very sad to hear that after learning so much they are not getting their standard jobs

Job scarcity is there and will be there. Even in advanced countries, like the USA, shortage of Jobs is there.

These Ph D's must be sham PhD's. In a country where fake degrees are available doctorate degrees also can be manipulated. I know of guides who register doctoral fellows and send them home only to call them after couple of years and tell them to write a pre determined thesis which will be defended by him in front of a pre arranged friendly committee on a reciprocal basis. The situation is not so bad that good PhD's can not find jobs. Such doctorates lack confidence and are prepared to work as peons.

Lack of confidence and lack of application of their knowledge to real life conditions is also a bane on the Ph.Ds.

Everyone is looking for government job due to job security.

Job security is ensured even in Private sector jobs, provided you are hard working and innovative. I worked in both private firms as well as Government owned firms.

There are two Ps - Phd ,Peon and I would tragicomically add one more - Pathetic! It is pathetic for the poor guy and the system which produced him. I am aghast at it.Of all things his PhD did not even produce a modicum of self-respect in him!

I know a woman with three masters and doctorate in computers serving as professor in a private college taking a job of a teacher in middle school just because she thought government job was much secured, pension and other benefits attached with it. Indians consider a government job is the real job and can pay lots of money for getting the same.

Addition of " Pathetic" spoke the real Pathetic situation prevailing in education system.

I read today that the government sector today is able to offer only  about 9% of all jobs but perhaps it offers 100% security and pension after retirement two very vital reasons why even Phd's are tempted to apply even for a peons job. Pathetic but true.

Pathetic. True. As I said earlier, I served in a major steel plant in AP and in a  private Advertising agency after my voluntary retirement. Both gave me  job security as well as incentives.

What a lucky person, best of both worlds you could enjoy. I do not know but public sector was your job at time of retirement.

I took a voluntary retirement from Vizag steel plant with an intention of starting my own Ad agency  But luckily a local publisher had seen my works and offered me job of a visualizer. I was rewarded in both my jobs.

Securty can not be only reason for PH.d joining as peon. The qaualified engineers, doctors or even computer specialists will not accept such low job. This just shows the irrelevance of most degrees. Many degrees are not even worth the paper on which printed. What can you expect from a M.A. (English literature) who cannot even draft a simple business letter.

Quite true. I had an experience of this kind. A section head having a degree in literature in the P.R Department of a Major Steel plant, used to write, " I does not know. "
