Knowledge of local rules and customs will not only help you stay out of trouble when travelling, but also open the door to a unique and rewarding travel experience.

As an example In many Muslim countries, particular those in the Arabian Gulf, public displays of affection, including holding hands, cuddling and kissing can be punishable by law.

We need to be very cautious when visiting some unknown place. There are some different rituals even in different parts of our country. Also, some word in a particular language may means ome thing nasty in other regioal language. I had Bush transistor set while posted at Tezpur. somebody told me never to utter 'Bush'  as this is vulgar in Assamese.

In fact when you visit Saudi Arabia you cannot take any other religious symbols and you have to cover your head and wear something that covers you from head to foot irrespective of what religion you belong to, they are extremely intolerant when it comes to such things

To Put it simple, " Be like a Roman while you are in Rome " if you want to enjoy a good holiday.

I guess when it is difficult to blend in it is better to avoid these places altogether because there is every chance of you getting humiliated, sometimes without  any valid reason !

A good solution. Avoid such holidays before they become night mare.
