This is a U turn government. already reports are coming that it is a temporary measure.

I feel the decision is hasty. This I feel would be taken back as there are spate of complaints pouring in both from the public and the press.

Telecom company executives said it was not possible to block all the sites immediately. "We have to block each site one by one and it will take a few days for all service providers to block all the sites,"

The supreme cort has imposed a temporary ban on 860+ sites untill the apex court reaches to a final decision. I am neither in favor or against the ban but cant see a logic for keeping such sites online. Hoewer one is free to see or act as per his own will within his privacy.

When has ban worked anywhere  that it will work here. Like alcohol advertising in India porn will be seen in pious websites. Wait and watch.

I can understand. Recently Supreme court in its verdict said viewing porn in privacy is not an offense. But among the sites banned now I found there are sites sans porn like college humour. This is an act done in a hurry..

No nothing is done in a hurry. The babus are very smart. They have met the quantity target but left the quality untouched. Got it.

Is it so? But one of the sites is College Humor in the banned list. This made me think that the banned list was made in a hurry. I agree with you that Babus met with their quantity target.

In fact ban has no meaning since it can't be implemented. Even China with all the powers in hands failed miserably imposing any such ban on millions of X rated websites which manage to pass through all filters.

Apart from the issue of freedom of expression and citizens' right to see what they like in privacy, enforcing bans and making too much law is needless burden on judiciary and administrative system. Law should interfere only when there is victimization of any citizen. Watching porn or any thing in privacy does not affect any one and so this should not be conern of law.

The more things are suppressed or banned , human nature is to bounce back with more force. Be it child Porn or adult porn, if one watches in privacy is the most welcome thing as the Supreme cart verdict says.

Banning is a politicians way of wishing away a problem and a citizens way of feeling comfortable. But in reality the show goes on at higher costs and those required to enforce take their cuts from suppliers.

Politicians should realize with such foolish actions they are becoming the Butts of laughter.

Political porn  cannot be amusing. Usually it stinks.

Political Porn ? Yes it stinks and endangers the ecological system. Beware.

There is a good news for all porn lovers, the government has lifted the ban from all sites except those involving children. They did so after the SC said the government cannot stop people wishing to watch porn in privacy. fair enough.

This news was revealed by one member already in these discussions. That out of the initial list.the government took a decision to impose ban on  those porn  sites in  which  children are involved.

Sorry sir, I did not see that (I am still unable to see that) but the even better news is that internet provider association has said that banning the porn is an impossible task therefore they will not be able to filter child or adult porn from the internet. So nothing will change.

If not I, Vijay has posted. However its  good the Government restricted ban on porn only to those which have Porn related to children.
