Natural disasters are out of human control, though man has developed many scientific devices to predict disasters but no one can exactly predict that when will disaster occur.

That's what the info graphic says in the link. Natural disasters are both unavoidable and unpreventable.

Weather forecasting bureau from various countries like America has previously said that Indian subcontinent will face drought this year, but reverse of it is happening. Most parts of India are having good or heavy rainfall.

This thread has nothing to do with weather forecasts which are likely to fluctuate. This is an information on how natural disasters have taken heavy toll causing heavy destruction of men and material.

Man is responsible for the increase in natural disasters. To do his tasks easily, man has altered nature and the result is natural disasters. Many roads and buildings are constructed in metro cities, and with a moderate rainfall flood like situation will occur. We have recently seen what happened in Delhi.

Yes. Man is responsible for these natural disasters to a great extent. He has destroyed the trees and built concrete jungles in the name of development.

India loses many more lives because we do not have any disaster control measures in place to deal with natural disasters unlike the developed countries. The Newyork Typhoon last year was so severe , but they lost just a handful of lives since they are equipped to handle such disasters and in the USA they keep having forest fires m typhoons and floods on a very dangerous scales but their death tolls remain very low..

We also have to consider population density per square kilometre in any given region. The population density is far far more in India and other Asian countries than in USA and elsewhere. This along with lack of measures result in more losses during natural disasters.

This also might be the way for nature to keep human species in control!

Lack of disaster management was clearly exposed in the Himachal disaster and subsequent several natural disasters including Hudhud. Japan has devised a disaster Management system for their earth quake prone country by building earthquake resistant houses. They keep the losses of men and material to minimum.

Building disaster resistant structures costs money and that is one reason why we do not have these in adequate numbers.Advanced countries have huge amounts of capital which they employ in making life more safe for their citizens. We are may decades away from such facilities.

Natural disasters are part of history. After all the city of Pompeii was destroyed by a volcano thousands of years ago. Natural disasters are natures way of balancing life.

If that be so then Indians have out balanced nature many times over

As the very name indicates it's the fury in the forms of earth quakes, Tsunamis and cyclones. Even though they are natural disasters , you can see the invisible human hand behind these natural disasters. Trees are completely destroyed. Concrete jungles were built in the name of development.Though they cannot be completely stopped, the loss of men and material can be reduced. Japan is an earth quake prone country. They designed a a plan in such a way that the loss of men and material are kept to minimum.

I would like to think it is more a lack of willpower than lack of money and no value attached to human lives in India!

@ Kalyani.

Who cares attitude and not caring about human lives is the reason for the deaths. I agree we cannot stop the loss of men and property entirely. But it can certainly be minimized. Then again as you said is owing to lack of strong will deaths occurred.
