According to the article, Yoga is not for weight management, body shaping or mental peace. So it is really not physical exercise. This is really a meditation or Sadhana. So it appears that in name of Yoga, we are observing physical training exercises only and not Yoga as conceived by Patanjali.

Exactly sir. Physical exercise is related to just physical fitness. Whereas Yoga is related to both physical and mental fitness. Yoga is holistic in nature. It treats the root of the ailment, not the symptoms of the ailment like in Mainstream medical system.
It is true that one who really wants to enjoy the full benefits of yoga, should practice it in its full spirit. Besides the physical asanas, one should concentrate on the spiritual side too, that is meditation. I believe that practice is the main key for success. And it should be done under the guidance of a professional master.

Inconsistency and Doing yoga for the sake of yoga will never achieve the desired results. Yoga should be done by putting heart and soul in it.
