Shashi Kapoor receives Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

Ya he was in news yesterday for it. It's prestigious award people don't get it so easily.

He deserved the award. I have seen many of his films.

Yes he waited FOR it for years. He's done lots of hit films with Amitabh Bachchan.

Hit films alone will not make anybody to win a prestigious award. Quality makes one earn awards and rewards

His successful film is I forget the name there is the song, Ek tha gul aur ek thi bulbul as single actor, though he is not so talented as other two brothers but he has identified himself as a sense of actor with free style. 

Phalke award is given to a movie personality for his alround contribution to the movie industry. And acting is just a part of it.

Babuji films normally get hit when the actors do good acting. No doubt good direction, songs, story also contribute.

Movie making is not just about Acting alone. It involves a plethora of aspects ranging from production stage to releasing stage in the movie theaters. Phalke award takes into consideration one's contribution in all the said aspects. There were several  non -actors who won the Phalke award.

Quality of acting should be single parameters for this prestigious award, though many a times some other consideration could be taken into consideration.
