Man’s achievements in different spheres are no doubt great undoubtedly. But a cipher before the mighty nature. Recent earthquake in Nepal proves again that Man is nothing before nature. What’s your take on this count. Let’s discuss.

Man would think he/she is the mightiest race, but it is not even an atom at the front of mighty nature, where within one minute all forms of modern cement structures fell into decadence and suddenly all forms of modern communication stops and this shows how weak are we in front of mother nature.

If we pay attention to the nature and keep its sanctity, Nature bestows bounty on the humans to some extent. But there are calamities on which none has the control.

It goes without saying that man is too small in the vast ocean of space and time.  There is no end to space and what we know must be very tiny portion of the endless universe. also human life and history is too small. The universe would have existed even billions of years ago and will exist ever even after human race is extinct.

Man is too trivial and insignificant before nature. Also it is quite evident that hell hath no fury before nature. You tinker with nature, mess with it and you get the same returned with thanks a thousand times!

And for this short lived glory which he brags standing atop Himalayas, to day he's lying lifeless under the very Himalayan snow landslides.

Man is an infinitesimal being in front of the infinite nature. From time immemorial, nature has astonished him with its unpredictable expressions making him helpless and insecure. That was why primitive men assigned bodies and spirits to the natural forces, personified them and worshipped them with fear and devotion; which was the very basis of Religion.

It means, man knew the power of nature. Still he couldn't escape from the fury of nature. Nature has its own way of controlling the man. Nature hasnt allowed the man to know all it's immense strength only to keep the man under its control.

Of course there is no doubt that Nature is all powerful and unless we respect, fear and go along with nature , we have to face the consequences....We need to teach our youngsters to do the same . Nepal tragedy is really shocking and I sincerely hope that there are no more calamities there since there has been news that there is a lot of pressure within the earth under the Himalayan region and unless many small tremors take place which release the pressure there could be a much higher disastrous quake reaching a magnitude of 9 on Richter scale !

Long ago as early as 1962, experts realized that there are certain regions in India prone to earth quakes. Consequent to this Bureau of Indian standards BIS formulated a set of standards according to which buildings should be built to counter the effects of earth quakes. Except Delhi's Metro project and the buildings in Bhuj, Gujarat, we're built according to BIS standards. As usual BIS standards were forgotten.

It's time to make the amends in order to avoid loss of property and lives caused by Earth quakes, which are more likely to hit India more frequently.

Whatever achievement men will get they will not able to control the nature any time. It is just out of bound.

We cannot eliminate natural calamities like Earth Quake and floods. What we can do is to properly manage disaster quickly. Man is definitely not supreme. Yet he must do whatever he can.

Agreed, we cannot eliminate natural calamities. But preparedness can reduce the loss of Men & Material. This iis the aspect that makes a vast difference. Japan, in this respect stands high in Preparedness for any eventuality.

For now, the priority should be save as many people as they could as life is precious and one needs to respect it to a considerable extent. With every natural calamity there are many new things to learn and remember for and many new ideas should be implemented in creating the new city, only then we would guarantee a safer place for future generations in times to comes otherwise the same state would be felt by future generations which we were observing to.

The issue is what's the bragging man's worth before the mighty nature. We see humans brag about their achievements and even go upto the extent of saying that they conquered Nature. Is this true?

We definitely cannot conquer nature, it may seem so in small measures but when you take the larger picture statements such as conquering nature seem ludicrous to say the least...The only wise thing to do is go with nature rather than against it and face its wrath !

Aptly said Usha. Wisdom lies in going with the nature.

The size of man amongst whole universe is not even millionth size of atom, that goes on to show how weak we are in front of nature, fear it and resepct it.

Absolutely. Man stands nowhere before the mighty nature.

Many cities of India are in prone to Earth Quake.  Delhi is very high risk city. There are many cities especially in The South that are less dangerous. Thus we have an idea about where we need to be more cautious. w can't avoid quakes but can ensure that buildings are quake resistant. The multi storey  buildings are riskier.  Also in risky places, the disaster management arrangements need be always on alert. Like fire fighting practice, there should be quake management practice also. .

Exactly sir. Northen cities especially Srinagar are in the high risk zone indicated by the numerical 5. Lowest risk is indicated by numerical 2

Many Southern cities fall under this category 2.
