Writing on a paper, folding it carefully , putting the paper in to the envelope..... Yes they sure are our fond memories. This envelope is not mere paper, but the sender's heart. Now it has become the thing of the past. Now, it's the turnof money order. This is unavoidable to make way to the newer and latest things. It's the order of the day.
Adieu Money order.
Money orders had a human touch. I remember how eagerly as a college student staying in a hostel, me and my friends would wait for the moneyorderwala. We would be so happy that we always gave him a rupee or two as baksheesh. Today electronics has taken over. Money gets transferred at the speed of light. It is all a fond memory now. But change is inevitable.
I remember than when I was just below ten years age, money order forms were issued free of charge by post offices. My father used to bring many money order forms just to guide me how the form is filled. By learning to fill in M.O. form, I could easily learn how the more complicated forms like I.T. Returns are completed.
I cannot remember ever having used a money order system to send money nor receive money but know about it from others. Some people would cram as much news as possible in the small column given and it served a dual purpose of carrying both money and news. I guess it has served its purpose now and it is time to move on to other things ...
