Congratulations Mariyam for this great achievement!!!... Gita is the philosophy of life. It is beyond the narrowness of all religions.

Great. Congrats to her. That's shows that on god there is no binds of religion. It is us who believes that.

Gita is a philosophy of life, that guides you through criseses of life. It's a fallacy to  link Geeta with religion.

I appreciate his father for allowing her to study Gita. Her hard-work finally succeeded.

Her father was wiser than our raw head politicians.

By learning Gita, one gets the knowledge of reality. Knowledge is secular; it is universal. Nobody can bind it within the framework of religion.

It is commendable , the parents of the girl need to be congratulated for taking such a bold step...If this action is reciprocated by Hindus as well , no politician or terrorist can manipulate the masses..

True Usha. Politicians tricks and other vote bank dramas will come to a grinding halt. Before Harmony in religions, tricky politicians have to come down on their knees. It will not be out of context to say, communal harmony is well within the format. Especially in AP, WE CELEBRATE MOHARRAM  AND RAMNAVAMI in the same pendal.

I congratulate the girl for winning the prize. But comments on politicians are misplaced. Geetha is certainly a religious book and suggestions to make this National book' or teach compulsorily in schools and colleges is unwelcome and has to be condemned.  .

Excuse me sir. With all due apologies I'd like to say that Geeta and religion are separate. Saying "SatyamevaJayate " quoted on the walls behind every Judge in  every court and at the entrance of every police station is not a  religious  trait.

This is not a case of opinion but fact. Bhagwat Geeta or simply Geeta is definitely Hindu scripture whatever somebody may claim. This is well known fact. I don't feel that it needs be proved. The Geeta comes from mouth of Lord Krishna- an avatar of Vishnu- one of Hindu trinity along with Brahma and Shiva- responsible for preservation of universe. Geeta is part of another Hindu scripture Mahabharata. I wonder if you say this is also not Hindu religious book.

Here is link from Wikipedia that makes  it amply clear that Geeta is a Hindu scripture.

Certainly a Hindu scripture, but not a religious scripture. Ayurveda is a therapeutic system that was born from Vedas. But Ayurveda is not a religious scripture.

again what is Hindu? Is this not religion?  If so, why we have to write 'Hindu' against column of religion in all forms. We need think and act realistically. Perhaps, I have to give another link to prove that 'Hindu'  is a religion and not something else  I need not prove this but I have to because even very plain facts are distorted.  Please see further.

Sir, in the same link, the very first lines says Hinduism is a way of life. A way life doesn't mean that it's a religion.

Please read properly and holistically. It is very much and in clear terms stated therein that Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world 'or a way of life' is mere addition after 'religion'. However if you feel that Hindu is not a religion, you should not cry over 'conversion' is some body embraces Islam or Christianity.  Hindu not being a religion in your opinion, becoming a Muslim or Christian is not conversion.  Then in statistics and for all official purposes, Hinduism is a religion.  In the column 'religion' , you write either Muslim or Christian or Hindu.  I feel this is too simple a matter to be discussed.  It is necessary to think and act realistically. .

It's purely my opinion and I never cried against conversions. I'm sure I'm entitled for an opinionof my own.

I am happy that change over from Hindu to Muslim or Christian is not 'religious conversion' in your opinion and you don't cry for this. This shows that you are consistent. However the organizations like RSS and Bajarang Dal- Hindutva components- are agitated over such conversions. Naturally, practically, according to them Hindu is religion and not way of life. If somebody changes from Islam to Hindu, they consider this as 'ghar vapsi'. They are not as consistent as you are. But I will be happier if you stop writing 'Hindu' against column.'religion' in any form as this is not religion but way of life as you claim.

In order tohave my own thoughts and opinions about anything, it's my policy not look for other opinions. I allowed intercaste marriages, inter religios marriages in my own family without caring for others validations. I only ask whether the people involved are willing or unwilling. Other things doesn't concern me.

Thank you Usha for the links.I agree people have distorted views on Hinduism. But the fact remains that Hinduism is a way of life.
