I am amused at holding prayer for saving the corrupt from long arms of law. Perhaps they think that almighty (if any) will listen to them and protect the corrupt. No doubt, the God of corrupt also cannot be honest.

In this case, Jaylalitaa has been sent to jail and banned from contesting the election during her life time. Her followers are organizing Prayers in a massive scale in TN. All these prayers went waste.
Their prayers perhaps do get heard. Both Lalu and Jaylalitha are out on bail and their cases do not seem to come up for hearing. And may not do so for a very long time and then adjournments will take place repeatedly. In meantime a government at Centre may require their support and cases could be diluted or withdrawn. So do not be so sure Gulshanji and Rambabu, God may not hear but concerned politicians may do so. Prayers are directed at them.

I sincerely hope, there will be an end to this belief, with prayer everything washes away.

True, and the way things are moving many more to come and in very near future. The time for corrupt politicians is gone now.
