Railway Budget does not propose any increase in fare. According to the minister, the passenger fares are heavily subsidized by freight, which is already high. There is hardly any surplus for new projects.

I really appreciate and surprise the central government decision in not increasing the fare. In Tamilnadu most of the buses are converted in to semi deluxe and deluxe without giving much facilities. Bus fares are also high. Whenever government increasing the fare they simply saying that comparing with other states our fares are very low. When Tamilnadu government increasing bus fare from RS.15 to 30 the politicians are keep quite but at the same time central govt increase the fare they are shouting. Actually speaking the train fare is very cheap but how central government managing this is really a great task. We can heard that people travelling without ticket in train is possible until TTR check the tickets but in the case of bus travel there is no possibility of making fraud.
