Irritability is one of the frequent symptom of depression. Such people are always misunderstood by their surroundings. People around them should understand such a person and try to interact with him to know about their problem. This will help them to come out of depression.

You are right Geetha. A victim of depression needs understanding and sympathisizing people to alleviate the I'll effects of depression.

As has been mentioned in the article, one of the biggest barrier in treating depression is the stigma associated with it. often those who are suffering from it refuse to accept it or be treated fearing they might be treated as a mad person. so, many depressed people still remain untreated.

If left untreated,a depressed person may be a menace to the society. Many grave crimes were committed by depressed .

Almost half the problems the world facing today come from the people in depressed stage reasons may vary though.

True. Depression drives one to resort to extreme acts. Depressed person loses his discrimination.

I think most people who suffer from depression don't know that they are suffering from such a condition and others realize it very late. Often when they do realize, it is very late to get any treatment.

The feeling of helplessness and hopelessness can be reduced to an extent if the person can open his mind to a close friend or a relative.  But usually a depressed person does not accept that he is depressed.

If victims of depression are refusing to declare their depression, who is the loser? Such people can't be helped.

Those who want to help the victims of depression should get the cooperation from the victims. It's only then, it's possible to cure a depressed person.

Well, it is not true that depressed people don't wish to get better, it is because they don't  have the right people to share their feeling with makes them even more depressed. Socializing with the right set of people can make our lives less depressing. I agree that depressed people need to open up and share their worries with a trusted friend.

Many depressed people fear the stigma attached to depression. That's why many depressed people shy away from  agreeing about their depression. Yes, there are more number of people who will not admit that they are depressed.
