Perhaps our customs look bizarre to others. As countries and regions differ customs also vary.

I never ate any buried birds. But we eat the buried vegetables like potatatoes that grow under the ground and thus can be considered as buried. 

Of course these practices are restricted countries. Different regions and different parts of the world have their own food eating practices.

Yeah well yes may be our customs and practices look unbelievable to others, after all we all do a lot of things that can bring us luck, get us married and what not.

• So, a custom should be taken as just custom inherent to a particular country or region. 

Yes. Different countries have different custom and if we are an honourable guest of that place we should also follow their style.  There is a saying: “If we go to a country where people eat snakes, we should eat the middle piece.”
