According to modern medico science drinking water is a very important part of diet and nutrition and the earlier you teach your children to consume water the better,In fact one can start as early as 3 months by feeding the child water in small quantities and increase it as they grow older. This forms a healthy routine ..

But, doctors are of the opinion that if a baby is breastfed, s/he doesn't need water until 6 months..and yes post six months giving water is advisable ideally when solids are introduced as part of a baby's diet.

I find their advice unwise especially in a tropical country like ours where it is hot, in fact used to argue about it with my own paediatrician who did not have any convincing reason for not feeding water ....I started feeding my children some water right from 3rd month onwards...a few sips because I could see that they enjoyed it . It has proven to be a really helpful ...

True. Simply because they are doctors, all such doctors' advises, we tend to believe them. I have read about the feeding water to the babies as early as the baby is 3 months old, but in limits . This practice proved to be very effective.
Can we take other fluids like milk or curd during meals?

Eating curd is prevalent and I don't think consuming curd while having meals can pose any health hazard. In fact people in south have curd and rice almost every day, I have observed it.

A meal is incomplete without curd for a South Indian. Perhaps except in Kerala

This has of course been debated several times on the forums , here too if I am not mistaken - However, Europeans consume table wine along with their meal, wonder what impact that has on digestive system? I guess it is helpful ...

There is some differnce between european and Indian food habits. Our body gets habituated to the habit. I have learnt from others in army that wine should be taken with snacks and food could be taken later. If you have already taken food, don't take wine.

Certainly. Food habits vary not only from country to country but also from state to state. In Some states even in early morning people start the day with a sweet and tea. These food habits play a vital role in determining tha consumption of water.

In fact in most European countriues, at parties etc they eat their dinner with wine first and then have liquor( rather than the other way round which is what happens here in India ) , which is supposed to steady the system..
I have hear this thing from many.. We should avoid drinking water during meal and also immediate after meal. We should take it after some time around 15 to 20 minutes.

Yes. After meals giving a gap of 20 minutes for drinking water is ideal.

Take water when you feel the thirst. If you consume atleast 3 cup of water in early morning it will easy for the stomach to clean the unwanted things. As per the article if we give the gap between consuming the water before and after food it will give good health for us.

Its a wrong notion that one should drink water when you are thirsty only. After consuming at least 3 standard glasses of water empty stomach, you should take water in small quantities after every one to two hours.

Except the consumption of water taken in the morning empty stomach, subsequent water consumption should be in small quantities say a small standard glass of water even if you are not thirsty.
