Modi is known for his disciplined life style and punctuality , now he is making sure that the Government servants be the same - clock in on time and stay late if and when there is need ! Hope this continues and becomes a practice rather than become a one day wonder !!!!..

Now Modi has identified all those aspects plaguing the Indian administrative system. Indiscipline, lack of Time sense, taking the things for granted and lack of accountability are some of the most undesirable features that were set firmly in the individuals in the responsible positions..
Now Modi is firm in his belief, unless these evil practices are nipped in the bud, he cannot measure up to the expectations of the people who voted him to power.
Yes this measure taken up by Modi will go a long way in the long run.

Discipline was never a Cup of Tea as far as Indian community is concerned. And this indiscipline is rampant in political circles. This can be seen in every Parliament session. Valuable Parliament Time is being wasted ruthlessly by indulging in Rowdy and unruly activities.
All credit to Modi who has identified the key factors for a Nation's progress and implement them starting from his own cabinet.

Anywhere in life discipline and punctuality play a major role and I sincerely hope that under Modi other politicians too realise that if India has to make any headway, they need to work hard not be laid back ..
A task master like Modi can deliver. He can make the nation realize the importance of discipline in all walks of life
We can see other nations like China and Japan who rose from the ashes because of sheer grit, hard work and a disciplibed attitude. There is no point in giving long speeches on patriotism and do nothing , instead as a nation if we develop a keen civic sense and try to do our bit, it would go a long way....

Japan's incredible rise like Phoenix that rose from its own ashes is a lesson to all the developing nations that nothing is impossible with determination and a strong will to win.

Our patriotism is limited only to singing patriotic songs around 15th August and 26th January and that's it. But working with discipline and sincerity, doing what you are supposed to and on time, is what will serve a nation better than anything else. This is what Modi believes in,he has been trained as a cadre of the RSS and they pay a lot of importance to discipline and punctuality, attributes missing totally in previous ruling parties. Now as time goes, we will definitely see good improvement in these offices.
One thing I appreciate in Modi is, he tackles the roots of the problem. We all know punctuality and good time management can solve all the problems be it in an institution or an individual. Visionary Modi, did not give long sermons from platforms. He started what he wanted to achieve from him. From his own cabinet.
I remembered reading an article which mentioned Narayan Murthy of Infosys praisingh Modis capabilities as an able administrator, found the article after googling...

Besides Narayana Murthy, in the past many intellectuals, able administrators and Corporate Bigwigs talked greatly about the niche points in Modi as an Administrator.

I agree everyone should come on time - it maintains discipline. But sitting late is not a proper practice, especially because someone higher in the hierarchy is sitting late. It is a waste of time as the support staff has left and all lights are kept on and few staff members who stay back have to be paid overtime. Instead the superior authority should inform in advance to such officers who are needed on a particular day to stay back.

I agree with that, unless they are compensated they will lose interest in work, although they may say back and do their job, the quality may suffer...

But its not happening In Modi's cabinet meets. Each member is given a task and a time. This condition of fulfilling finishing the task is closely monitored.

In the factory I used to work, the last two IAS MD's started this culture of all senior officers have to stay back till the MD is in the office beyond five o'clock. It became a torture because, he would hardly interact with one or two officers and not at all on many days. Imagine sitting in your offices for two to three hours with no work as all the support staff leave at five. Only the peons enjoyed because they got overtime. There is a item circulated in the Internet in which ex president Abdul Kalam advises everyone not to overstay beyond duty hours. It is tiring alos to sit in office for nearly 12 hours everyday. One is not against working hard but it has to be done with some care for others also. Almost everyone has families to take care of also.
Father of white revolution Verghese Kurien once while on his routine office rounds, he found one officer working beyond the office Hours. Kurien asked, "Why you are here after the office working Hours?"
The employee replied, "I want to finish my unfinished work Sir."
" If you could not finish your assigned normal job in the regular hours of the office ? do you think you can finish in extra hours? It shows your lack of time sense and discipline.. If I see you again working beyond office hours, you will be shown exit." Kurien said and left.
Over staying doesn't mean sincerity, but inefficiency.

Ever since Modi has been elected as the PM, I see some ray of hope in terms of a better and a brighter India. When Modi made it a rule saying no more attestation of important documents/certificates are required since we need to provide the original for various official works, it made sense. And now asking officials to be punctual and disciplined will definitely pay off in the long run.
