How roles change. Only the public gets same treatment. soon there will be rise in petrol and diesel prices. Onions are likely to touch Rs 100 per kg in October as per TOI report yesterday. Good prices are coming !

it was necessary to hike prices. it was the decision of UPA govt, NDA has just implemented .

No one likes price rises but genuine price rises are accepted. However the BJP would make such hue and cry and even stall House proceedings and come on roads to protest against price rises by UPA , that when it does so today many people find it double faced behavior. They should have practiced what they preached to UPA to avoid price rise. We all know prices in a growing economy will go up, but consistency in stand by political parties should be there.

BJP is very clear in its stance. Double standards and dual talk took birth in the corridors of Congress. It's the pioneer.

All ruling parties (Congress/ BJP) and main opposition(Congress. BJP act alike. Only roles change. BJP govt. has rolled back MST rail fares. They have also no deferred proposed gas cylinder subsidy reduction. Obviously tey have slowed down hard decisions in view of popular reaction. It will be foolhardy to assume that BJP is in any way different from Congress as regards economic policies.

As far as administrative ways and implementation are concerned BJP has an edge over Congress.

This is immature. So far, there is only propaganda and press/ TV are still behaving in frenzied manner. It will be better to wait for full one year to arrive at sensible and realistic conclusions.

Their first month performance gives a clear picture what would be their future performance. Yes. People are ready to wait now after seeing their initial performance.

Good or bad having voted, voters have no choice but to wait for full five years -- 59 months to go !

We test a few grains if the food is cooked or not. To know if the government is good or bad one need not wait for 59 months.

People are all powerful. If the government is unfit even before their tenure people can throw it. Like they dethroned Congress and brought in BJP. The same fate awaits BJP if it's found unfit even well before its tenure.

Congress ruled for full five years afte which was again elected for another five years. They were replaced only after completing tenure. So in normal circumstances, we have to wait for five years i.e. the statutory term of Lok Sabha. attempting to bring change whenever you like is anarchic.

In extraordinary conditions there is a provision for Mid term elections.
Congress completed their tenure, people will not throw, when voting rights come they exercise, it seems some one has lesser political knowledge about the way democracy functions.
The fact That there is a provision for Mid term elections in a democratic society is well known and even a commoner knows about it.

Mid term elections are held only if no government is possible in existing Lok Sabha. As long as government has confidence of the house, there will be no mid term elections. We have to go by normal situation and not exceptional circumstances.

Which is why I said "Extra Ordinary Conditions." when any government fails in its functioning in all spheres of administration and chaos prevails in day to day life, Mid term elections can be used.

Center may impose President rule in states and order fresh elections. But this is not possible in the center. There can be no President rule in center. Even if there is maladministration, there will be no mid term poll. This will be only if the government loses confidence of the house. President has no authority to order mid term poll unless PM recommends dissolution of parliament and holding fresh elections.
If there is a coalition governement it is possible to overthrow a government by withdrawing support like it was done with NDA...But when you have a majority government this is not possible unless the governance is so bad that the MPs of the party revolt and withdraw mass support.....there has to be a very strong reason for such a thing to hapen !

Surely the first price rise issue is not a reason for the government to be changed so soon. Every govt has the right to increase prices till it hurts the people enough to vote them out in five year cycles.

Yes that is true, and many a times it is beyond control like it is happening with the price of oil and the railway prices both of which are related...Unless we take an all round and mature voew of this, we will keep blaming the respective governments for any kind of price rise forgetting that prices cannot stagnate esp when salaries are increasing and inflation is rising ..

Things beyond control, especially when the contributing factors are beyond the borders, it's an exercise in futility to discuss about them.
When one of most corrupt govt era ends and deficit monsoon, always compelled and fueled for price rise but hopefully all will be settled soon.

With an already deficit rainfall, we are going to have very tough days ahead , thats for sure and for this I hope the BJP is prepared and making allowances since there will be need to do that. Already we have more than 40% shortage in rainfalls and if this continues then the nation will be in trouble..

I think some measures are already on the cards like austerity measures and waiving of agricultural loans are mainly to tackle the Meager rainfall. But they are yet to take a shape.
Items that are going to be in short supply like onions and potatoes need there supply to be augmented by say imports. This is easier said than done because availability in international markets is limited looking to our huge requirements. Also they are perishable items with low shelf life, thus hoarding may not be on a significant scale. Thus we are in for shortage of these most used items and already prices around Rs 100 per kg are being forecast by October. The ability of govt. in restoring supply and demand balance is limited unless some out of box ideas are resorted to. Shortfall in rains is another cause of price rise.
Prices soar owing to many conditions. Rainfall shortage is one of the conditions. It's better for the planners to look towards those conditions which can be controlled and strengthen them .rainfall is a condition that's not in our control. Alternative measures should be taken in to consideration and work on them.
