Her original name is Priya Vasudev Mani Iyer. She gained wide spread recognition for her role as village girl named Muththazhagu in the Tamil film Paruthiveeran. She was awarded National Award for Best Actress and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance.
