Yes. Very much a culture of India as long as they are celebrated in a way that's prescribed in the scriptures. Not creating traffic blockades and blaring mikes piercing the eardrums. My celebrations are limited to my home only.
Today nav Ratris have begun. Each day is peculiar to some Goddess. Henc the Navratri are devoted to nene goddesses- one night for each. Wish all the best in this festive season.
In Maharashtra Gudi Padwa is the beginning of the new year and also marks the beginning of Navratri dedicated to Lord Shriram, the Navratri ends with Ramnavmi, which is the celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ram.
Wish you a very very happy Gudi Padwa to everyone on boddunan!
We celebrate Ugadi on the 14th of April every year, however I wish Happy Ugadi to all the members who clebrate it today... :)
Is the date 14th April fixed ? We have a few families from Karnataka living in our neighbourhood and they celebrate Gudi Padwa exactly like us today, so how come yours is on a different day?

Yes , I had read about Krishna Ashtami, but did not know about Ugadi being celebrated on two different days in the same state! It is almost like the Bohris celebrating eid one day prior to the Shia and Sunni Muslims! I guess such minor differences will always be there in a country so vast and diverse! :cheer:
