Every one knows that Guru Dronacharya had some mission on his mind while he took the charge to teach Pandavas and Kauravas. He wanted to take revenge from his friend Drupad. But while doing so he has done something which a Guru/Teacher should not supposed to do. To make Arjuna as the worlds best in Archery, he taken the biggest Gurudakshina from Eklavya.
My questions is what he did was right or wrong? Being a teacher how could he does this adharma? Please discuss it.

Every action should not have equal and opposite reaction, Duryodhana should not have taken this in his ride as epic Mahabharat, is for all times and all situations, it is teaching how, a big race of Kauravas diminished due to this, many different aspects are learnt and even all aspects of living are being taught and understood for years to come and relevant and rational people will take lessons from it,
Not just Kauravas but Pandavas too din't thrive, having lost all their children but one ( in Uttara's womb). So everyone paid a price for their actions in the end including Krishna who had to give up his life in the hands of a hunter for what he had done in his life time !

I agree with you. I believe in the Doctrine of Karma, which has been Scientifically proved.
To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Our entire life and unviverse revolves around that very important rule of nature which has been time tested ....

Karma is not just 'every action has opposite and equal reaction." This theory is related to your deeds- previous lives, present lives and lives after death. Every social injustice and inequality is justified by this theory. If you meet any injustice or exploitation, just blame your karma in this or previous lives before your birth. If you do not get justice in this life, it is still kept as a balance in your karma account called 'prarbdh' and you may be rewared in future life after death. Now just see how the ordinary people have been harassed and looted by village sahookars( Mahajans). They would charge very high rate of interest and even cheat. The poor illiterate would definitely pay and his descendants would also try to pay the balance by way of forced or bhonded labor. It was enough to tell them that if they did not pay this, their forefathers who had taken the loan will have to repay by getting the rebirth as bullock and carry load as way or repayment. This is the meaning of Karma theory, which is neither scientific nor logical and is just a means of cheating.

Karma is deed. Any deed will reflect in the form of a Result. This is cause and effect. If you pour wheat in the Mill, you get wheat flour. Not Raagi flour. As you sow so shall you reap. This principle is relevant all births. Present or previous.

If you believe in rebirth and also that your karma accounts can be maintained same way as commercial accounts by somebody in Heaven (Chitragupta, Yama Raj's accountant cum advisor), I have nothing more to say. Howevever, to me this is very weird and conspiracy of expoliting upper castes to justify exploitation of so called lower castes.

In Geeta Krishna has beautifully described the theory of Karma yoga - Karma means action !
A person has to perform his or her duty, sacred duty (dharma). One is to act "because it must be done" .Performing duty sustains oneself, the society, and the cosmos .You must attend to your own duty, not someone else's . In extreme cases, to perform duty may appear to harm other people, but everyone's true self (atma) is eternal and cannot be harmed ..
For the Hindu tradition (for any tradition?) your station in life tells you many important things about your duties. Are you a student? Then be a good student. You are a son or a daughter, brother or sister, a parent? Then fulfill these roles well. You are an employee, a citizen? Your Karma dictates you to do a good job and exercise intelligent patriotism...

"NishkamaKarma"'. Yes, performing your assigned duty without expecting returns is what is needed.

"NishkamaKarma"'. Yes, performing your assigned duty without expecting returns is what is needed.[/quote
Practically, 'nishkaam karma' means that you will do your work without expecting returns. Howver there is salary fixed for employees, price instantly demanded by shop keepers, money instantly taken for bus ride and so on. Now if you say that you work without expecting result viz. performance level, nobody will except. You are supposed to be result orineted. Howvever, you may indule in 'social service' or 'service in some shrines' without money. This is Nishkaam karma, which ultimately benefits the shrine managers. There are some Radhaswamy sects where the devotees give 'nishkaam sewa' by working in fileds there and the shrine managers prosper with such 'nishkaam sewa'. The 'Nishkaam sewak' simply lives on the food given in langar (community kitchen).
As I said earlier, the entire Karma theory is only a device to cheat and exploit the masses. This is just bonded labor in name of religion.
Very high quality eastern philosophical explanations in later part of this thread, am unable to write about it simply read some beautiful described parts of life, it all deals with making life better, if I understand all these aspects of life correctly written by stalwarts here.
Rightly stated that object of whatever we follow should be making life better. We learn from family, education and scriptures. By experience, we know what needs to be followed and what discarded.
Chinese philosphers like Confucius, Laozi, Li Si, Han Fei etc etc came up with many truths of life in simple words ..They are very similar to what we read in our scriptures since we share many similar things besides being two of the oldest civilizations...
some quotes...
1, Knowing others is wisdom ,knowing yourself is enlightenment !
and
Know your enemy and know yourself and
you can fight a hundred battle without disaster !
We can safely assume that Drona, Bhishma and other eminent personalities of Mahabharat were wise enough and had enough forethought to know what their actions would lead to ...

The most significant person apart from Krishna in Mahabharat is Vidur so far as 'Neeti' (policy) is concerned. even now Vidur neeti is considered ideal for inter personal relation as well as state affairs. Vidur was a maid serevant's son and appointed minister by Kauravas owing to his wisdom.

Vidur Neeti is considered as an all time relevant Shastra or science.. He was born to sage Vyasa and Parishrami, the maid of Ambika and Ambalika.
In Mahabharata he was also considered as the incarnation of Yama Dharma raja the god of death and justice

Yes of course Vidhur was held in very high esteem since he was wise and had seen a lot of life .. He cautions Dhritarashtra many a times about his folly insupporting the evil deeds of his sons, but in the end when all is lost he picks enough courage to tell him that if he had been wiser things would have been different !
