I have a doubt if such tricks work. I have generally seen to disqualify the candidate if he/she don't have required qualification. The employer don't even talk to them.

I agree with this, although it will work in unorganized industry but I am witness to one such incident although the case was alittle different.
In this case an expert welder in Kochi Ship Yard impressed technical officers of a multi national electrode company to the extent that they hired him and sent him to Germany for further training. The man retired from the post of deputy GM (Tech) years later. He was not educated traditionally but was extra ordinarily talented in welding technology. I went under his training in Bangalore for three months years before after completion of my engineering and on job training period. He could tell the flux composition just by seeing the color of smoke and smell of a welding electrode.

There are some people who has knowledge and work experience but not the degree. Such people need to prove themselves for the job. Together with the tips mentioned above link, little presence of mind is required.
