I'll see the veracity of the criticism. If the critic is right, I will thank him. If he's wrong, i will try to convince him. If he is adamant and refuses to hear me, I will leave the place.

Yes. Silence silences even the worst of the critics. And no punishment is higher than ignoring the critic.

I smile, bow my head and take it if it is positive.
I smile, look at them if it is not justified
But shouting back is not my idea.

suggestion is a soft criticism. Criticism comes in many many shapes. Even with slight gesture of body organs.
