I too have been reading about this since quite some time now. One of the reasons may be because of politicians giving away loans at low interest rates andasking the banks to close loans when there is default little realising that they are setting a very bad preccedent which will have a negative impact on our economy. All banking stocks have been stagnant since more than 3 years now , goes to show that people have lost their trust in them.
The present health of our PSU banks is quite alarming and recapitalization through our hard earned money is being resorted to revive them - an effort which I suspect, is bound to met with failure unless political masters are kept at bay in professional decisions. I just yearn for that time when a comprehensive investigation and a resultant white paper would be readied to unearth the massive loot of public money by unholy alliances of sickeningly corrupt politicians and top bank officials.
Npa are bad loan. Most of it are dealing with government sponsored programmes.
some high profile business man and companies are also responsible for increasing NPA.
