They had a discussion the newhour as well...Any such program is bound to have its pros and cons since a large amount of money is involved and even after that it may not really make any difference to the day today lives of the millions of Indians...
The ISRO scientists have argued that the total expenses on the Mars mission is much less than that spent on Diwali crackers every year. Diwali crackers result in many mishaps, cause noise and air pollution without any benefit to nation.
India is not at all a poor country. India is artificially made poor.

Mission Mars is great achievement for a country like India. I feel proud to read this news.

Can these social activists say if all the schemes and acts for the benefit of the common man are proving beneficial to the common man, on whom they are showing pity ? The same social activists blame in unison if the country depends on every small thing on other countries. They should be glad that the country is becoming 'Self- sufficient" in technological and scientific spheres.

Scientific development will never stand in the progress of a country. It can be used to eradicate poverty if properly used.
India definitely has a large population of poor and hungry people and government needs to focus on uplifting the status of such people. But equally important is expenditure on science and research and space adventures such as Mars mission. Poor can be easily fed with the money that is stolen by the dirty politicians and there is no need to cut expenditure on science research which are very essential. People spend way more money collectively on diwali crackers, on Bollywood movies, on cricket matches than is spent on science. So social activists should take their agenda outside cinema halls where stupid movies are shown and deter people from watching mindless violent films.
If it succeeds, India will be the first nation to reach mars and this interplanetary mission will make India ahead of its rivals China and Japan.

Scientists are confident that the Mission will succeed. It has a already passed through the most critical phases.
Crisis of food and drinking water together with price inflation has changed mind of almost every people of the country. Therefore the dream to make country free from corruption and other crimes is just a dream. Hunger and poverty will never end. Instead, crime will increase. Release of money will be of no use. All will be stolen by others. This is the matter of mentality and not the setback of politics.
Thus I will prefer India to move forward together with its poor people.

India is not poor country like Somalia, it is a developing country, large chunk of populations could not have a strong life what they wished to do, as most of governments have been taking welfare mesures, that will eradication hunger deaths.

In India it's not so. Most of the welfare measures failed to function due to ineffective implementation.

I am not comparing India with Somalia or other similar countries which are nothing more than a chaotic banana republic. Yet, we cannot ignore the fact that populations of poor and hungry far exceeds rich, well-off and middle classes! There are simply too many relief, employment, feed-the-poor schemes designed by the government and those schemes have caused more damage than anything else. These schemes have only caused poor people become more lazy and deterred the youth from doing any actual physical efforts.
Government schemes, are making poor poorer, India has two sides one is Bharat which is the real side and the other side is India which feels it is growing and some feel that India is a richer country. I think, if all corruptions are halted then those money can be routed to the rich benefits of poor and downtrodden.

Riches are not the only index of development. See the advanced nations. They owe their development equally to riches and scientific development. If India wants to develop, corruption should be curbed and the scientific and technological development should be given top priority.

More than such so-called helping-the-poor schemes, efforts need to be focussed more on making the poor more self-reliant and enterprising, especially the young men whose energies are diverted towards pointless show of strength in political rallies, alcoholism, Bollywood cinemas etc. If they were taught the values of physical labour with honesty and integrity, they would [profit more and thus help our country advance more.
Mars orbit raised successfully, this is the second change of track of Mars orbit, in total six change of tracks to be done before orbit reaches Mars.

ISRO scientists are very confident of "Mangal Yan's success." right from its count down. Now seeing the results so far we can conclude the entire Mission is going to be a thumping success.

Still a long way to go as the most critical part is the entrance of Mars atmosphere, scientists are confident of doing it, China congratulate India on this and hope for a joint Mars mission in future, this is surprising as China always worship might and India should learn from this in every sphere be it military or some other else.
