Iron Statue of the Iron Man

We are told that an iron statue will be built in Gujarat - the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel; that this statue will be the tallest statue in the world; that it will be higher than the Statue of Liberty in North America and the statue of Christ the Redeemer in South America. A claim is being made that this statue of the freedom fighter and first Home Minister of India will prove India "greatest" and farmers will come forward and contribute to build it. With all respect to the great leader and all those who wish to build it, don't you think, there is something amiss in the whole project?

Now there is new Revelation. l.K. Adwani has referred to some old book and revealed that Pt Nehru has burst at Patel saying that he was 'total communalist' for his suggestion to send army to Hyderabad. But army was sent there in view of British High Commission protest against rape of nuns.

If Sardar Patel was 'total communalist' Modi's claim to Patel legacy gets more legitimacy.

Then what about Nehru, who was always in favor of Russian type communism. Should Modi take both of them?

If Modi favors Russian type Communism, he can claim his legacy also. But he does not favor communism of any type. So, the communists or Marxists may claim Nehru legacy.
History is always marred with controversies and many a times it is edited according to the preferences and choices of author. :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly:

It also says that communalism is not restricted to BJP alone. It's there even in national parties who proudly display their "Secularism " tag

This is true. There could be communal in Congress also. This is obvious as Pt Nehru is reported to have described his own party leader Vallabh Bhai Patel as total communalist.

People like Modi are openly declaring their communal attitude while others hide their communal attitude. I think to some extent the communal feeling will be there in most of the political parties as an underlying current .
It is mind set, it is the way of thinking, one can think communal another can think it as secular, it is proportionate. :silly:
Apparently, the organizers of Patel statue have not done adequate home work. They did not get environment clearance. There could be some more hurdles.

Nehru mixed communism with democracy to make it socialism a form of welfare government, whether his support to USSR was a correct decision or not is still debatable.
