Sorry they are different. A cyclone crosses the coast at only one place. And in this case it was Gopalpur in Odisha. While its affect may be on more than one place. They were Kalingapatnam in AP and Paradeep and Gopalapuram in Odisha. The later is known as 'Hitting ". While the former which is more important and dangerous is known as "Crossing" in weather terminology.

Okay, So I know nothing about weather terminology, for me the area affected is what matters. By the way what I read or see from different sources, these were the places which were being evacuated.

It's ok dear Sunil. Because I have been often hearing these terms, I came to know about these terms. I beg your pardon if I caused you pain. Yes , these were the areas from which lot of evacuation took place.

No worries bigbro, I have only admitted my mistake, I am glad everything passed peacefully. Damage to property was there but loss of lives was minimum.

That's magnanimous on your part. I must admit you have quite big heart as big an Australian island. Jokes apart, my hearty appreciations to your magnanimity.

It was expected by the weather experts that it would cause more havoc than the cyclone Katrina that shook America in 2005. Thank god. we survived with little damage.
Yeah.. some experts were saying that it could be more dangerous than that Katrina cyclone.. But its good that it didn't effect that much.

Though my state is saved with little damage, Odisha suffered a lot.

Srikakulam district ,a border district of AP and Odisha has recorded 28 cms of rain in a day. In some parts of Odishs it's continuously raining. Ther is no rain in my place.
Weather department had bee complaining that their warnings were neve taken seriously before but this time it was not the case since the governmental agencies were fully prepared to face the cyclone and from what is reported so far, there has not been too many casualities ..
I am keeping a close watch, as per different reports I see they have done a wonderful job especially in Gopalpur. They have managed to keep the death count to under 10.
A commendable job by NDRF groups. I have seen their agility, alertness and quick decision making. In this process even if a minister comes and intervenes for the advantage of the TV cameras, he will be thrown aside by these devoted groups. I had time to watch them after knowing that Vizag was out of danger. My salutes to them.

I am happy that such a fearsome cyclone has past away without leaving signs of much dreaded damages.

But the loss of property in Ganjam and Srikakulam districts of Odisha and AP respectively are immense. In Ganjam district, there wont be power for the coming 15 days.
